I have recently started on flecainide (50mg am and 100mg at night) and dipping in and out of AF. Dr Gupta recommended I try Magnesium glycinate as this has the least negative effects on the bowel and worth trying. Would appreciate your thoughts as to what you take and what brands. Will start of with a small dosage but heading towards taurate or glycinate due to having sensitive bowels. Thanks
Which magnesium supplement? - Atrial Fibrillati...
Which magnesium supplement?
I take Magnesium gylcinate - usually 200-400 mg per day. One day when I took 800 mg (some of that as part of my afib rescue strategy), I had diarrhea.
I also take (NOW Foods ) Magnesium Glycinate - 1000mg capsule which equals 100 mg of magnesium bisglycinate . I also take ( Cardiovascular Research )Magnesium Taurate - 880mg capsule which equals 125mg magnesium taurate - taken at different times breakfast and lunch time.
I also take 1000mg Taurine with both to aid absorption .
I take YourSupplements Magnesium Glycinate capsules 1 x 200mg each morning mid breakfast, as I have an extremely sensitive stomach. Keep intending to take another mid dinner, but always forget.

Hello Jean, I hope you are well. Which make of glycinate do you take and does it help with sleeping as well as ectopics?
Mine are from Yours Supplements. I just take 1 X 200mg daily mid breakfast. I believe I sleep better through taking it. I have a really sensitive stomach and this make suits me well.
Hi Reena09,
Please take a look at my story:

I take 500mg of Magnesium Glycinate (Best Immune vegan capsules), one every evening with food. Glycinate does appear to be the best for sensitive folk and the only other ingredient is microcrystalline cellulose. Watch out, some brands have many other additives and fillers which can also cause sensitivity.
Regards,
I take Magnesium Taurate, but whatever you take be careful where you get your supplements from, there are quite a few fakes out there. If they seem very cheap they are probably fake...beware of Amazon, they do warn people that the products sold on their site are not necessarily genuine....can you believe that?
A simple way to by-pass the tummy issues is to use magnesium oil. Just rub it into a large muscle. I use it for cramps and it works well.
I eat seeds and nuts every day. Full of magnesium.
I use a Mg compound with Taurine in it and because my stomach is sensitive I have in the past topped that up with Ancient Minerals Mg spray on skin. I agree with other posters who warn to buy from a reputable source.
