Hi

I’m just wondering how much bisoprolol people take.

I’m on 5mg on a night and 10 mg on a morning.

Thanks

😁

Will of course vary from person to person depending on their symptoms but 15 mg per day seems a lot.......

Yes as flapjack mentioned everyone different but 15mg seems very high, I was on 3.75mg and it wiped me out

Bein in persistent AF you are in the category of higher doses of Bisoprolol permitted. Up to 20mg in this country. Only if in persistent AF. I have to say that a few years ago, ten I think, I was on this dose and i was dizzy and unable to function. My GP reduced it accordingly. As things are getting difficult for you, expect to be offered hard meds, and or cardioversion and/or ablation.

Above all don't panic and make a nuisance if you feel ill.

I was on 5mg then upped to 7mg but have had to have it lowered after two cardioversions as I was feeling wiped out and my resting hr was in the low 40’s. I am currently on 1.25mg with a rest hr around 55 but at times can fall to 47bpm.

wow, that's a lot!

Recommended maximum is 10mg daily but I know that some people are prescribed higher doses. I was on 12.5mg at one point and even this didn't bring my HR down below 120bpm.

Thankfully I now don't take any beta-blockers after my successful ablation 3.5 years ago

I’ve been on 10 since April. So far so good. When I first get up I could sit and watch paint dry but once I get going it’s ok.

You know the saying. No sense

No feeling

I'm on 10mg, split am and pm. Side effects tolerable, worst ones for me are the inability to exercise reasonably vigorously, vivd dreams at night and the odd bout of tiredness. I was titrated up from 5mg at the end of last year after having a couple of episodes broad complex tachycardia and PAC/PVC.

I can relate to the vivid dreams & your other symptoms! I'm on 5mg daily & have the most awful nightmares! Just a gentle stroll sends my HR into the 145's!

I am in persistent AF have gradually gone up to 10mg a day which I took in the morning. Since being in hospital for an ablation last week they found my heart rate was going up a lot during the night (my monitor kept the ward awake!) the dose has been split am and pm. I am tired but this could be the constant AF but no other side effects.

I’m on 1.25 only and that seems to work to keep my pulse lowish. Does seem a lot you are on. I was higher but it made me in first gear instead of fifth! Now I’m on this dose I feel I’m in third gear.....

I'm on 10mg of Bisoprolol. At first 10mg in the morning but now 5mg morning and night. I'm now in permanent AF, one cardioversion that lasted a day. I'm breathless all the time and my QOL is sh*t. AF diagnosed after a stroke ( thrombolised) late December. I don't know if it's the AF or the Bisoprolol that's making me so breathless.

Hi

I take 15mg a day, 2 x 7.5. it keeps my HR below 100 when in tachycardia and I have a PM to keep my HR at 50 during the night

This suits me We're all different!

I am 2.5mg a day. I have a low HR with it, 50-54. My HF nurse said as long as I keep feeling ok not to worry. I really hope that they do not give me a higher dose any time soon. lol.

Hello. I am in permanent a fib and gave non ischaemia cardiomyopthy......earned heart. I am on 10mg bisoprolol in morning and lisinoprol 5mg at bedtime. This has kept my heart rate below 95 fir last few weeks but this weekit has started to climb up again and not necessarily when being particularly active. I also sleep a lot and have vivid dreams and find I am very lethargic. There is talk of putting the bisoprolol up again but I am not sure. What would people recommend. X

I’m on 2.5mg a day, HR approximately 50. Walk about 5 miles a day and feel ok, just a bit tired now and then.

I was started on a high dose of 10mgs per day, and was so lethargic my cardiologist cut to 5mgs, then 2,5 mgs and then 1.25mgs per day taken in the evening.

Of the drugs I take (5 others), Bisoprolol is by far the most pernicious.

Ramipril I stopped altogether because of a cough.

I would suggest you do not self medicate or decide the doses, but do talk with your cardiologist or failing that your GP.

Once we had found a level I could tolerate, my cardiologist argued a little was better than nothing. I was all for giving it up completely but apparently it's important. Ive been on the low dose for nearly 3 years now.

Hi,

5 mg taken at night - usually around 8pm.

However, if needed I can take an additional 2.5mg as and when required, as a pill in the pocket, when and if I feel an AF event coming on. Always a bit of a mystery that as I can be in AF and not have any obvious and clear cut symptoms.

Average HR steady at 65.
