Devices for LAAO procedure.

Can someone kindly give me all the names of the various devices used in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO) as I am having a telephone assessment on Monday. Watchman etc.

Also, can an appendectomy be done by going in through the side chest wall?

With thanks,

Maxim

Watchman is the main one plus Ampletzer. The lariate procedure to remove the LAA is done via key hole through the side of the chest usually. All mentiones in your previous post.

I initially looked at the Watchman but the Amplatzer had a wider range of sizes. They don't know the size you will need until they start, Some go in for a Watchman and come out with an Amplatzer. There is a newer watchman version now in America not sure about here.

I had the Amplatzer fitted privately in Brighton in April 2017. It cost about £10K and is day surgery if done in the morning. Mine was not done until late afternoon so I had an overnight stay. No after problems and on Clopidogrel for a month and aspirin for three months. I had an echo cardiogram after a few weeks to confirm t was still in its proper position.
