Took the leap of faith 🀞🏻

After nearly 5 weeks in Af, had a telephone consultation with specialist.

Prescribed Flecaneide 100 mg twice a day.

My fear of this medication was finally out weighed with the length of this Af episode.

Took my first dose yesterday and miracle of miracles back in sinus rhythm within 2 hours!

Still feel anxious about taking this drug, but the relief of a steady heart rate is wonderful.

Hope everyone is staying safe and well x

I'm glad to hear it's working for you. I'm also on 100mg am and pm and it's been a lifechanger for me. I (touch wood) haven't had any AF episodes for a maybe for a year now since taking it at this dosage.

Let’s hope this little tablet carries on working! So wish I had been brave enough to take it sooner 😊

Good news Lizie. Flecainide gave me back my life going on 6 years now. No AF in that time and thankful for every day that passes. Best wishes on taking it.

I have been taking Flecainide daily for nigh on 30 years. I also needing a number of ablations.

I think I have also had about 20 cardioversions but I have also used Flecainide as a pill in the pocket to revert AF to normal rhythm more times than I can count.

I cannot imagine what life would have been like without it.

I think it's quite a wonder drug and the only one that's ever worked for me.

I'm also a fan of Flecaincide. No side effects and it works wonders (for me anyway although we are all different).

100 mg twice a day and I'm convinced it's the Flec keeping me in sinus. My cardio told me to use it as a PIP if I go in to afib (300 mg a day max). I have twice and soon returned to sinus after the extra boost.

It's pretty normal to feel anxious when you start a new medication. That will soon pass and it sounds like it's working for you. The anxiety about taking it will soon pass.

Great news for you - keep up the good work ;-)

Normal initial dosage is 50mg twice a day.

I would try the lower dose first and see if it works ok.

I made a shrine of empty Flecainide boxes and I pray to it every night. Am I crazy? :)

Hope I have nt tempted fate by being so pleased with Flec - back in Af at 114! Please let it be just a little blip! 😑

Hello any help please can you still get travel cover with AF? Just been told I have it but love traveling so sad

You have to declare your AF to the travel insurance company; this is a question that comes up a lot. If you type travel insurance in the search box, top right, and tick 'your community only' you will find lots of helpful advice and good insurance companies.
