Metoprolol side effects for Afib

What are your experiences with Metoprolol for Afib including side effects, effects on heartbeat, heart rate, controlling Afib, etc.

I only having intermittent Afib but about 300-400 other irregular heartbeats a day. I was on flecainide and metoprolol succinate but had a bad reaction to Flecainide . Now I’m on just the metoprolol succinate. I have not had any Afib and my other irregular heartbeats are down to about 30 a day. I have had no side effects from it. I’m not out of breath or dizzy when I excercise and feel much less tired. It’s been a miracle for me.

That’s great to hear. I’m so happy you found what works for you. I was started on the Metoprolol when my Afib started but it didn’t suppress episodes so my doctor added the Flecainide which has worked. Just shows how individual this phenomenon is. Best of luck!

What "side effect " did you experience with the flecanide?

I had atrial flutter , high heart rate , and my heart was going out of rhythm so I was dizzy and short of breath and felt like I was going to faint.

I had some rhythm issues the first couple of days but then they stopped. Since then, it seems to have helped a lot .
