Hi folks, I hope you are all coping with these unprecedented times. Stay guarded for a little while longer. I would be very grateful for your opinion re efficacy of the Kardia. My AF is now being managed by rate controlled drugs and sadly this is now my only treatment option. Until recently I felt quite well and had bursts of energy that allowed for a fair quality of life. Recently I have noticed that my energy levels are really a problem and I do more resting than moving. I have arranged a telephone consultation with the doctor but wondered if it would be a good idea prior to the consultation to submit some recently taken Kardia ECG’s for reference. Hence the question re efficacy of fairly basic ECG? Thanks in anticipation.

I use another type of EEG monitor. It's pretty much the same and very accurate. However the Kardia comes very recommended on the forum.

So yes - to answer your question, I think it would be a good idea to submit (and keep) some readings from your Kardia. They tend to be pretty accurate overall.

it is also recommended by NICE and some GP surgeries have Kardias to loan out to potential AF sufferers

I think your right Mike. Even though I'm more than happy with my device, the Kardia does seem to top the bill overall. A recommendation by NICE is about as good as it get's.

My cardiologist was delighted when I mentioned I had Kardia printouts and my EP took them seriously too. I sympathise over the energy fluctuation - I have the same, my body just doesn’t want to do what my head wants to 😞

Thank you for your support, it’s so difficult to have any quality of life without energy! My AF is controlled by medication and I am hoping that a tweak of medication might do the trick 🤞🏻🤞🏻

yes they are really good. It's worth discussing your medication when you have the consultation as often that is the cause of the tiredness

Thank you, I am hoping it is medication related. There may be some leeway in tweaking the dosage. Fingers crossed that the Kardia ECGs supports this. 🤞🏻

Hi, During a recent visit to hospital with an AF episode which sadly didn't get under control with my PIP, I showed the doctor my earlier Kardia recordings and she was most impressed as it clearly showed me having been in AF with a rate fluctuating up to 180, yet when she saw me I was in Flutter with a constant rate of 120 bpm ( my normal is 48 ) , I sent the recordings as suggested to my Cardiologist who has now suggested a third ablation. Whilst I was there I also checked out with her the accuracy of the free app " 85bpm " and that was exactly the same reading as the hospital machine, so I would never doubt the Kardia.

My Kardia has been invaluable and infact I'm having an episode at the moment and my cardiologist is managing to treat me with the help of me sending him results. A couple of years ago we were in France and my heart got a little tachycardia and being able to send him a reading, many that he could tell me what to do remotely.

It was my cardiologist that actually asked me to get one, was a good decision to get it.

If you're in Afib it will often rob you of energy and make you feel tired.

Afib manifests itself as an erratic pulse normally a bit faster than normal.

It's useful for all Afib sufferers to know their pulse intimately as it's helpful to identify attacks.

The Kardia and several other devices (I use a HealForce PC80B) are helpful, but I only have to use mine as confirmation, a finger on my wrist is all I need to know if I'm in Afib or not.

Yes they are very good some Dr's are interested in having print outs some aren't - unsure why some don't take notice as they are cleared for use in medical practises by NICE

Definitely a good idea to send some readings. I've found it invaluable since developing SVT after my 2nd ablation as it identifies when it's tacycardia that's the problem rather than AF. My EP was pleased I had a Kardia so I can keep an eye on what's happening and get in touch if necessary

Thank you all for your reassurance, I have a phone consultation with the doctor tomorrow and have given the surgery some recent Kardia print outs. I will let the forum know what transpires. I appreciate your opinions and support. Best wishes to you all.
