I'm new here.
I'd like some advice/opinions on my medication. I have the most dreadful rash that's now covering most of my body. I think its cause by the beta-blocker I'm taking, currently carvedilol 25mg twice a day. I'm also taking edoxaban as my blood thinner. Has anyone else had anything similar or know of anything to relieve the symptoms. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Could be hives esp. if it is itchy.But your doctor will advise you.I developed this out of the blue a couple of years ago.I take Apixaban but not much else . .....my doctor suggested it was' perhaps' due to medication.
Hard to say. Sounds like you are allergic to something. Often docs will recommend benadryl or any antihistamine drug. If you have any tongue swelling or trouble breathing, get to an emergency room
Yes. A beta blocker can cause an urticaria rash in rare circumstances. I was one of those. The GP told me it could not be the beta blocker and gave me antihistamines and creams for the rash. When these didn’t work I stopped the beta blocker and the rash disappeared within two days. I’m now on an alternative drug and all is fine.

yes, I have developed a very deep itchy red rash on back of hands and loaer arms, water cold or hot makes it much worse, had this now for 3 months and prescription creams hopeless, I am taking edoxaban and bisoprolol 3.75 for afib, surprised very few replies to your message?
New to a fib started on Apixiban and Bisoprolol after 1st week itchy rash on hip tum and legs dr gave me antihistamine and told me to buy E 45 itchy. Skin cream mainly clear now odd itchy patch now and then but usually if I'm to hot was really tired all the time at first but think I'm getting used to meds now also had heart burn and nausea but that is easing off too
2.5 bisoprolol did that to me at initial AF diagnosis and a lot of other side effects including complete lethargy. Came off after 10 days and moved on to Calcium channel blocker which resolved the breathlessness, but after 18 months on that got significant heartburn and acid reflux. Retried bisoprolol at 1.25 on its own, no serious side effects and that did reduce the high rate AF incidence (140bpm resting rate) significantly. Post ablation now and keeping fingers crossed
Rash has been reported by some people using NOAC s especially Rivaroxaban. I have been on Apixaban for 9 months now and have recently been suffering from hives. But I also had them from time to time before starting it . I find they arerelieved by taking anti histamine but I try and keep this to a minimum.
I’m on Edoxaban and have had very itchy back and hives at base of scalp, never had hives before. I just look at the leaflet for Edoxaban 1 in 10 suffer itching, 1 in 100 suffer from hives. This and Thyroxine is all I take. Very unpleasant for you.

My GP has said that until we stop taking the drug that's causing the problem it won't get any better (something I already new!)| She also said something quite interesting, that was that it could be the anti coagulant or the beta blocker or both. My cardiac nurse has phoned this morning, she's been in touch with my consultant he recommended another beta blocker and also going onto warfarin. I was hoping he'd agree to going down the warfarin route. I'll give both some time and see how I am. I'll let all know the outcome at a later date
