Good morning to you all have a good one, after my last post regrading repeat prescriptions and after reading all of the replies I'm afraid that my options are rather limited, i have decided against home delivery as I read too many negative comments about this system so instead of having my script sent electronically i collected it myself and took it to the chemist who said that it will be ready for collection on the 2nd of December, 12 day's later, combine this with the time you wait for hospital appointments and test results,the whole system is a joke, people say that the nhs is on it's knees i suppose that I'll be joining them soon.

Does your GP have an online system? I’ve never had to wait more than 48 hours & often much quicker. The script is electronically sent to pharmacist of your choice - no need to collect the script but you are advised when it will be ready - collect from your pharmacist in 24-48 hours - it’s not home delivery.

I’ve never had a problem. It’s a bit of a faff to register for the online system but once up & running - I book my own appointments, look at my test results, can see my summary medical record & order repeat scripts.

Hospitals I despair of but my GP & Pharmacist I can only praise very highly.

GP & Pharmacists are not part of NHS Direct - they mostly operate as private businesses.

I use an online service which is much like the one you describe and I love it. I only have to remember to order a day or two before I need my order filled. I also like having all my medical information available . I can communicate with my doctor through this portal , ask a question or report information. I usually get a response within a day or so. It really reduces stress .Pam

My Gp surgery has the on line service which I am registered with the problem is with the chemist. Rowlands. The only 2 near me and there rules are 7 clear working days to dispense a script as it is sent out of town so counting weekend days you wait 12 days or so. They don't do home delivery or blister packs as they have too many customers

Crazy..,,, my pharmacy makes me wait 10 minutes not 10 days.

Try another pharmacy.

When this election malarkey is over I'm going to write a stiff letter to the health secratery highlighting the problems that I have had regarding prescription dispensing and collection

If I drop my prescription off at my Doctors on the way to work, it is usually ready for collection in 2 working days. My pharmacist is next door in our local Tesco Express (other supermarkets are available! ) . The pharmacists are lovely and always willing to answer any questions that you may have.

In defence of the NHS I must be really lucky because whenever I have had an emergency they have been there for me.

We order our repeat prescriptions online through patient access. You get the online details from your surgery. So we order one day and the chemist deliver either the same day or the next day. Brilliant.

Your heading mentions appointments, but you don't. At my surgery if you need to see a doctor urgently you can phone up and a doctor will ring you back within two hours, generally within minutes of you phoning. After a discussion I always am given a same-day appointment.

As for prescription's I order them online and normally within two to three days I get a text from the pharmacy telling me they're ready to pick up.

Why don't you write to the head office of Rowlands, and also complain to your local Clinical Commissioning Group telling them the facts as you experience them?
