I am suffering from mild rheumatic heart disease with mitral stenosis. after bmv in 1992 I was living a normal life. now I'm patient of afib too since 2014. doctor has change my medication slightly and suggested to take telmisartan 40mg two times a day, metoprolol 50 mg in the morning, amiodarone 200 mg once daily, warfarin as usual. can anyone with similar conditions share their medication and life style?

The combination of conditions you have puts your case well outside most of our experiences and of course we are not medically trained here so should not really comment on drug therapies but I would be worried about amiodarone which is a very toxic drug and should be that of last resort.

thanks BobD! I asked doctor about toxicity of amiodarone. he informed me that bar the hypothyroidism there will be no significant side effects and my prescribed dose is low one. but still I have questions. actually I want to know to know about options available for similar kind of patients. thank you!

what he said was that it could worsen my thyroid function and that might be compensated by increasing thyroid.

Please think very carefully about continuing with Amiodarone. I was on it for a very short time and it affected my thyroid, liver and kidney function. When I left hospital in June following a Mitral Valve replacement my Consultant wrote on my discharge notes that Amiodarone was responsible.

I don't want to scaremonger as it works for some but there are alternatives out there which don't have the same side effects.
