very high blood pressure

I have had and AV node ablation and a PVI in an effort to control my AF . I was given sotalol and it seems to agree with me. I am usually sensitive to most drugs. Unfortunately although it is said that it makes the BP plunge the opposite has happened to me. I do take a diuretic - indapamide, but since starting sotalol my BP has climbed even higher 188/102. I have to see my GP this Friday but I don`t know what to suggest as they have tried various drugs Ramipril, Lisinopril, Verapamil, frusemide, but I have had adverse reaction to them. The last one was Losartan (I was in hospital at the time)and the adverse reaction was severe chest pain and I ended up with a spray for angina which I don`t have. This reaction resolved when I stopped taking losartan.

The doctor in the hospital told me to explore candesartan but I am reluctant. Is there anyone who has taken this drug with success.

Thank you

Yes , I have taken Candesartan for 17 years with no problems . Just recently discovered that I no longer have high BP so have been off meds for 3 months. It is supposed to be an excellent BP drug.

Thank you. after the reaction I had to Losartan I am reluctant , but I understand that the chemical composition is different for candesartan than for losartan, so who knows It might do the trick.

Sotalol is a beta blocker. I can't take any beta blockers without bad side effects, so I am no longer prescribed them.

Fortunately my blood pressure is not as high as yours. The medications I take are: Warfarin, an anticoagulant; Doxazosin which I'm taking to relax my prostate, but it is also a BP lowering tablet; a statin; , and up to 4 times daily a anti-histamine (for chronic urticaria). I also use strong asthma inhalers twice a day, and have compression socks just below my knees for lymphoedema.

Thank you for that. I have stopped my Sotolol due to bad effects and my Indapamide. Will see my GP Friday and try candesarten. They gave me losarten in the hospital and the reaction was almost immediate. An arrythmia with chest pain. As far as I know candesarten is a diffrent chemical composition so I can only hope.
