Dizzy spells

Dizziness after 4 months post Ablation for Tachycardia. Has anyone else witnessed dizziness? It goes as quick as it comes on. But when I get it, it's very scary. I mentioned it to my EP and she said we must keep an eye on it and I'm waiting for a Heart monitor.

Yes it's been going up to 100 - 109.

I’m almost 4 weeks post ablation for AFIB and even though still getting the odd miss beat extra beat no dizziness did they EP say what they think it might be? Has your diet changed at all since post abalation?

4 weeks is still early days for you. The heart will still be healing.

This is my second ablation. No diet changes. In fact I have seen a dietician and said I'm already on a healthy diet.

EP has referred me to a different hospital for another heart monitor.

So was your ablation just for fast heart rate? No irregular beats? That’s good your on a healthy diet, it just improves all round health, when did you have your first ablation was it not a success at all?

The 1st was 3 years ago for irregular heartbeat and this 1for tachycardia. Ablations aren't a cure, they are to make your life more bearable so I believe.

Did it improve your quality of life first time round? How about now apart from the dizziness has it improved

Everyone's case is different. The 1st only lasted about two months but yes this time I feel better apart from dizzy spells. But they did tell me that after a 5hour op, it was much more extensive.

Five hour op the second time? Wow were you awake? I was through mine took almost 3 hours

I have not had an ablation yet but have dizzy spells lasting 10 to 30 minutes a time.

Been on Flecainide and statin for 7 weeks and am housebound since. I had to postpone a follow up exam because I am too scared to travel by bus.

Dizziness and fainting are often signs of SVT or supra ventricular tachycardia. This was how they spotted my AF after conveniently passing out in the waiting room of the cardiology department. My HR was 230 plus so I had a right sided ablation and the SVT has never occurred since. However they did then find my left sided arrhythmia which needed 2 further ablations to sort out.

Lucky you, not that you passed out but that you were at their office. As I already said I don’t think they think I am serious. 🤔

They didn’t take me seriously either for the previous 20 years, with explanations ranging from it is all in your head to stress. But in all fairness, I was seen by cardiologists not Electrophysiologists, and the science of the arrhythmias of the heart wasn’t nearly so refined as now.

Another fortunate thing was I was still wearing my 7 day holter recording device when I passed out, so the whole thing was recorded. Then of course they put me on the 12 lead ECG, and then it was pretty obvious.

There are so many possibilities here that I think you need to speak to the EP again to establish the likely cause.

do you take any pills? How much water do you drink every day?

I take rivaroxaban and Ranitidine.

I'm constantly drinking water.

I get that too but not as bad as it was. When I got checked my blood pressure was so low the doctor was surprised I was still standing. She halved my Bisoprolol immediately and that helped a lot. Blood pressure monitor is a good idea.

My EP is aware of it and just said we must keep an eye on it.

Welcome to my world. I had dizzy spells off and on for 3 years, 2 years ago diagnosed with a-flutter, had cardioversion , was ok to 2 years came back diagnosed a-fin. Now I take flecanide, and having bad, really bad, dizzy, chest pounding , with incredible perspirating, literally running down my back , face entire chest , ect. Finally getting in on Thursday to see PA, I feel they don’t take me seriously because I have never showed and a-fin at their office. Only the one time I went to hospital, haven’t gone back to ER because I have repeatedly been told that I won’t die and feel like I “don’t need to go “. That’s crap, if I went there would be a record of what’s happening, oh, and it’s far more than just dizzy, it’s a darkness that comes and goes with in ability to walk or stand, lasts about 4 hours. Really frightening. So I understand your feelings and recommend if like me you can’t get in to your dr I recommend going to ER , I am. I am not especially excited about my Thursday appointment, unless something happens in next few days. I wonder if they think I’m a hypochondriac or exaggerating. Please keep me posted.😁

I am a side sleeper and would get dizzy turning from one side to the other. Went I got up out of bed it would happen. I am 6 months out since ablation #2 & it seems to be calming down

I know the terrible feeling of dizzy spells. I had them for about a year. Mine seemed to come when I changed from afib back into sinus rhythm. But now I rarely get dizzy or even have an afib episode and then they are very minor. Been five years since my ablation. Food is my worst enemy, I love salty junk food and that is my trigger.

Thanks for your response. Did it just go on its own then? I've tried to keep a record of mine and it does seem to come on around food or Tea. It happened earlier I went from 111 down to 52.it happens for a couple of seconds but comes on without warning.

I’m about 18 mo post 2nd ablation. Things were great, until Friday night. I could feel something was up. Used my Kardia and sure enough, Afib, pulse of 144. I’ve been OFF blood thinners, less aspirin, so I took one. The next morning it was still present AND dizziness upon standing and walking 50’. Suddenly, that evening, it was gone....

I'm hoping mine will just settle in time. They can happen even when I'm sitting doing nothing. Feel like I'm going to collapse.

hi. i have regular bouts where i feel off balance or lightheaded. and a few times I've actually felt faint, where your legs give and you suddenly sweat and your vision starts to go.
