ADIZEM

Good morning all,

My GP has recommended that I switch from atenelol to adizem due to me feeling fatigued after a short time exercising. Is anybody out there taking adizem as I've not been able to find out much information about it?

Thanks

John

Adizem is diltiazem if you check that out. It is a calcium channel blocker rather than a beta blocker. Didn't suit me AT ALL!

I take Slozem, also a slow release version of Diltiazem. One of the fillers in Adizem upset my stomach but Slozem is fine, there are several versions of the same thing and once you have found one that suits you are supposed to stick to it. It. It does make me feel lethargic but once I get going I am ok!

Hi there - I am on Diltiazem 180mg, have been on it for over 4 years. I have had no side effects. They were cautious about giving it to me because I have heart failure as well as AF and can be prone to fluid retention (swollen ankles, legs ect) but I did not get the swollen feet as some people do, so I would give it a try.

I'm on diltiezem 240mg twice a day. Same issues expressed - swelling, slight discomfort in lower intestine at times, but it DOES work for me keeping my rate 62-85 at the high side when not working hard. Mornings it's often 62-72. I alleviate the swelling by taking Hawthorne berry capsules 680mg 3 x a day. It reaaly helps the swelling. Most days NO swelling. If I forget to take Hawthorne, swelling returns.

I was on it, it was better than atenolol for me but gave me brain fog poor memory tiredness and exercise intolerance. Seemed to get worse cumulatively over the 10 months I took it. I think I was over prescribed at 200mg mod release

Another Calcium channel blocker is diltiazem which had very minor side effects for me. If you don't get on with diltiazem ask to try that.

Also diltiazem is famous for having many versions that act differently . when one of my brands became unable it took my doctor quite a while on the drugs table to find an equivanlent. So any issues you could also try a different version
