2 weeks today post Ablation

So it's two weeks exactly today since the long Cryo ablation with Dr Murray at Freeman's and things are going extremely well.

Bruising is near gone, the groin pain which was quite severe after a week with a little nerve tweaking down my inner thigh and calve, now settling down thankfully. This really has been the most painful thing, which pales into insignificance with the fear of afib and racing heart synonyms with my afib attacks I used to feel so nothing to really complain about .

Energy levels are the real noticeable difference, no tiredness, or fatigue which I usually feel when in afib, which I was permanently suffering since last April apart from the odd day of relief , I guess this is because of good NSR which up to now I've had, as I've only had a few erratic blips first week to ten days, then it seems to have settled into more or less a steady drumbeat with pulse of 61, typical for me past year has been 90-100 at rest, feel much more relaxed and happy .

Started my walking after 7 days and back up to 1.5mile a day now,not at a massive pace but enough, and I feel better each day and more I walk, but I'm still watchful about over exertion and resting plenty throughout day with loads of water especially in this heat last few days .

Had a few strange symptoms , like migraine type headaches, visual disturbances, which seem to come and go but nothing paracetamol and ignoring it can't fix..

Still early days, and not overdoing it but so far my recovery has shocked me I didn't think it would be this quick, or give me so much energy or relief, I guess DR Murrays "acutely successful" letter seems quite accurate so far.

Is a little blurred vision and migraine type headaches common? Not overly concerned I did ask my gp but he just said to expect it especially after just 14 days or so.

Hope everyone's well and enjoying the sunshine, off for another walk before r it gets to warm.

Hi Ian, I'm pleased to hear that you're doing so well and yes those migraine type headaches are perfectly common after an ablation. I didn't have them after my first two which were carried out under sedation, but did after the third which was a GA.

Please report back again at a later date to let us know how you progress.

Thanks Jean hope your enjoying the bit sunshine , is a little blurred vision common? I seem to have really clear long distance vision yet very close it's quite blurred at times as if my prescription has changed .

Yes, the blurred vision is even more common than a headache. It should gradually decrease over the next few weeks.

The sunshine we're having is just wonderful and so uplifting. I'll be going for a walk around our harbour here later to have my INR tested at my doctors surgery which is situated there, it has a glass wall looking out over the sea and boats. Must take a photo and put it on here sometime.

Have a good day.

The vision problems (migraine aura etc ) are all listed in our fact sheet as things to expect. Caused by the transeptal puncture and will fade over the next week or two.
