Hi all

It was a year ago today I went in for my ablation for AF and Atrial Flutter and I'm happy to say apart from some eptopics, I would say it's been a complete success, no AF off all meds except anticoagulant.

So for those still undecided, it can be the light at the end of the tunnel.

That's so good to hear Brizzy.

How bad was your Af and flutter before? Do you mind if I ask who performed your ablation?

Dr Palash Barman at the Bristol heart institute did my ablation, a very pleasant, affable chap who did a great job. 3 to 4 months before my ablation I was in AF 3 or 4 times a week in the last month's I would be in AF for 4 days then nsr for 2 days, then 3 AF, 1 nsr, 4 AF etc and off to A&E a few times, an overnight stay so QOL was very poor.

So you can see why I'm happy as Larry at the results.

That's great news. Did you stay on the anticoagulant through choice or medical advice? My EP said I could stop it 3months after the ablation. (I had mine 5weeks ago)

Glad you are doing so well.

Because of my age 65 and BP history I was advised to continue with the anticoagulant, which I have had no problems with

Nice one Brizzy. My ablation was Feb 2018 and I've basically forgotten about ever having AF apart from checking this forum every now and again.

Great news. I am so looking forward to coming off my meds. I take 15 pills a day at various times! Hopefully once I have had the TAVI later on in the year I should be able to !

Good to hear, the flecinide and bisiprolol which I was taking certainly took its toll as I was puffing like a Billy goat with even a short walk, now apart from arthritic hips I can walk miles and not puff.

That is really reassuring Brizzy5000, I am booked for my Ablation on 31st May, was diagnosed with AF 2 years ago and had 2 cardioversions first one only worked for 3 or 4 days so I was put on to Amiodarone before my second one which has left me with a nhr, as you know this medication is quite toxic so not safe to take for too long consequently I have had to have 6 monthly blood tests and a yearly chest X Ray, but my cardiologist tells me that this med can help them when performing the ablation, I also take Apixaban which I think will be for life, so pleased this treatment worked for you, I hope it works as well for me, take care
