Two days after Cryoablation under General Anaesthetic

Cryoablation carried out under GA at Papworth on Thursday afternoon. I was kept in overnight and discharged yesterday morning.

So far, so good.

Worst part for me was weirdly being wide awake from coming to in the recovery room at 17:00 until I went to bed at home after discharge 20 hours later. No sleep whatsoever at the hospital. Strange and noisy environment probably even though I had a private room.

Right groin/thigh now has a wonderful black and blue colouring!

Slight ‘heartache’, but easily managed with paracetamol.

My road to recovery starts now.

Well done Derek, just in case you haven’t seen the factsheet, a little light reading......

If your groin is looking angry, just imagine what the inside of your heart must look like!

Your recovery means being a couch potato for ten days. Don't veer from that fact.

I went for a very short walk today. I don’t feel too bad considering.

Ah it’s over, that’s good.and rest up!...the days beforehand are worse than the days after I found......I was the same as you wide awake in recovery and stayed awake all night, my reason was the groin hurt so much I just lay awake....I had a room alone so it wasn’t noises.....but it’s a long ‘ ol night lying there isn’t it seems forever.......’ ......

I’m about 11 weeks now......do rest and listen to your body....

Hope the recovery goes well. Be kind to yourself and keep us updated.

Papworth is my local and I understand it is a first class unit but unfortunately I am registered with West Suffolk Hospital.

Glad it all went well. I'm 10 days post ablation. I also feel fine. All I've experienced is 3 short episodes of the visual aura. I hope you continue to make good progress.

All the best Amanda

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Just make sure you take it easy, and don’t be alarmed if you have a few flutters, as the heart is healing From the procedure.
