2 nd Ablation one year ago today !!

I thought I’d give you an update on this sunny February day .

One year on and I’m still in NSR which is wonderful and feeling so much better ( physically and mentally) I must admit I spent the first three months just waiting for it to come back, anyone that has read my previous posts will know that 3 months seemed to be my limit ironically 3 times ( 2 cardio versions and first ablation , 3 year roller coaster ride since a small heart attack on Oct 8 th 2015 ) so it was fourth time lucky for me and long may it continue.

I had my year check up with my consultant two weeks ago ( ecg regular and 55 bpm , so he’s taken me off my 1.25 mg of bisoprolol ) , told him about 3 very short(45-60seconds )very fast runs ( couple of months apart ) but he was happy to discharge me . Very happy but also slightly scary to be out there on my own again, if you know what I mean.

I ask questions all the way and have gone from 10 pills a day to 4. ( they probably hate patients like me ) I had been offered a hybrid ablation but thought I’d give the normal one a second chance in Bournemouth, I’m so glad I did, if it didn’t work my next move would’ve been St Thomas Hospital in London for the hybrid procedure.

I have now got my confidence back to go travelling so am off to Thailand , Cambodia and Vietnam for 5 weeks in November.

I have had fabulous support off this community in my darkest hours , so from the bottom of my heart 💓 a big THANK YOU .

Sharon

Sharon, that's great news to hear. It was a long road for you - but you've arrived - in normal sinus rhythm! Long may your good health last.

Best wishes

Jean

Thank you so much for your brilliant post! I’m new here and have been really struggling so it’s so great to see an update from someone else who feels better after ablation. Enjoy the sun and all the best for the future

Hi Roony so pleased to hear you are doing so well. But to everyone who did not have successfull ablations all is not bad,at my ablation July 2017 had phrenic nerve damage so ablation not complete, however phrenic nerve has healed and i am now in persistent AF,but quality of life is now so much better.I am in Australia at the moment visiting my daughter,i travelled here alone with airport assistance, thoroughly recommend thisand all is well, its very hot here high 30 low 40's but AF same as usual.I am 79 yrs young and enjoying myself, give life a real go you won't know if you don't try.Best wishes to all, this forum has given me so much information and support.Thank you all.

As your ablation was July 2017, when did you become persistent? Have you been offered another ablation or are you on the path to permanent? If so, how do you arrive at such a crucial decision?I ask because I am in persistent and i have ben given the "live with it " option.

Hi Sharon that's fantastic news well done and enjoy your travels. Xx

Became persistent somtime between ablation and3month check up, at year checkup joint decision betweenmyself and EP to leave unless i felt i could not livewith this situation any longer.Seeing as my quality of life is so much better than beforemy partial ablation i am happy with that and my EP agreed no guarantee another ablation would not make things worse. But should i get worse i would not hesitate in going for another ablation ,but so far i am happy to continue as i am.Still take Bisoprolol, Digoxin,Riveroxaban and Felodipine. My EP's door is always open or so he says.

Sorry this reply is for Cuore
