These past few weeks I’ve noticed mild swelling in my thighs which is gradually getting worse

I had the same problem when I was on Felodipine. Seemed to swell up all over. Still bloat even with two diuretics.

I am now getting puffy feet and ankles, been on felodapine for many years.

Do your fingers swell too?

Yes fingers look fatter although the skin on the back of my hands looks dehydrated and I check this by pinching the skin and it stays pinched for a moment or two. Do you have the same?

in reply to Jay10

Exactly.

Do you still take Felodipine

in reply to Jay10

No, changed to Spiranalactone and dr keeps an eye on my blood pressure.

Blood pressure is ok so not sure if I want to change as I also have glaucoma and have problems with eye meds. Perhaps I will go to see dr/ nurse for BP check and chat.

All the best

I should. That’s what they are there for.

I was on Spiranalactone for six months but had to come off it because it affected my eyes (I have glaucoma) made them sore and irritated. It sounds as if you have fluid retention and that is normally associated with heart failure. I have heart failure and AF. Are you on a water tablet (flurosidemide), I take Nebivolol (used to take Bisoprolol) Ramipril ,Diltiazem and Rivaroxaban. My heart failure now seems to be under control so rarely get any swelling(when first diagnosed with heart failure it was ankles, feet, legs and tummy) but I have fluroseimide to take if needed. I think you should see your GP or cardiologist to sort out your water retention.

Thanks Cassie, swollen ankes and feet are a side effect of Felodipine and gp checked heart out a couple of months ago so must keep hydrated I think. Will keep an eye on things.

Best see your doctor as something should be done.

in reply to BobD

I'm not under a cardiologist , it was my rhuematologist who requested the heart scan as my chest x-ray showed up enlarged heart

I haven't heard anything what so ever from the cardiologist. Which is poor really

My GP checks my BP when I go ( not often)

Few weeks ago started a new BP med

I just feel bloated everywhere today , I'm well hydrated with water

Then you need to see a cardiologist.

in reply to BobD

How ?

When I don’t have one 🤔

You GP needs to refer you. What does he do for you?

Be persistent, keep going back. Ask what is happening - has he referred you if so who to - get their appointments number - ring the hospital referred to and ask about the waiting list, which maybe quite long .

It wasn’t until I went back to my GP after waiting several months to hear from the hospital that the hospital rang - that afternoon - very apologetic - I don’t know what my GP said or did but the reaction was effective!

in reply to CDreamer

That’s the thing . You don’t get to know what’s happening and it’s your own body .
