I cant answer if it ‘should’ be taken either a.m or p.m, although i take mine a.m. What is essential though is that it is taken with food which actually means a ‘full-fat’ meal. For this reason i think some on this forum prefer to take it with their main meal of the day, dinner.

I take it with breakfast because I have porridge and milk.

I take mine with my evening meal six pm and always endeavour to take it at the same time give or take half an hour at the most. It needs fat In the food to absorb to best effect according to my blood medic.

This is what I copied from rivaroxaban( xarelto) website:

XARELTO® has no known dietary restrictions.

XARELTO® doesn’t interact with vitamin K like warfarin does. So you can enjoy healthy options like leafy green vegetables and other foods rich in vitamin K whenever you like, without having to worry about them changing the way XARELTO® works.

XARELTO® doesn’t need frequent dosage adjustments.

With XARELTO®, there are no frequent dosage adjustments. Most people with AFib who take XARELTO® will start on and stay with the same dose throughout their treatment—once a day with the evening meal. People with kidney problems, however, may need to have their dosage adjusted while taking XARELTO®.

As long as you take it at the same time every day I don't think it matters

My GP recommended taking it with the evening meal as taking it in the morning can result in tiredness. I notice others here have been advised to take it with a 'full fat' meal but I've never been told that - just to take it with food. I've been taking rivaroxaban for four years with no problems.

Yes that is my understanding too, that it must be taken with food, but the type of food has never been specified., so I take it with my evening meal, which on a hot day here in South africa, can be just salad and fruit.

Although I am no longer on Riveroxaban I took it for about a year with one of the side effects being extreme nausea when I took it in the morning and suffered for quite a while. However when I switched to taking it with food at suppertime it cleared up like magic.

My friend takes hers with her porridge and toast in the morning, but I always take mine in the middle of my evening meal. My EP said try to eat more or less the same time, but as we all know that isn’t possible, so mentioned this to my GP and EP and they said providing it was roughly within a couple of hours either way shouldn’t be a problem. As the evening meal is usually larger than breakfast I personally think it is better in the evening especially as I don’t always eat breakfast. Good luck

My EP/cardiologist said you should take during your evening meal. There is more benefit to taking it at night as you’re protected overnight and in the am where your risks are higher for problems. However, the Carleton site you can take anytime as long as it’s with food.

My cardiologist insisted that I take it with my evening meal. I try to take it around 6pm every day. I was on 20 mg for 6 months and just switched to 10 mg last month. No issues whatsoever.

I take mine with my main meal of the day, be that lunch time or evening meal, never had a problem with them at all.

I have been in max dose post Ablation last September. I was told to take it with a food, a full fat meal. I take mine with breakfast, as I always have an organic full fat yoghurt. Feel fine but more tired though . I take everything else, BP and Statin at night justbefore bed. Seems to work for me
