Had 2 Ablations For Afib and Flutter, last one 10 months ago, was doing well for first 3 months then flutter started coming back, seen E P about 4 months ago and he recemended a touch up, as i was having a lot of bad runs of flutter witch was lasting days, he allso put me on 40 mg of sotalol and last few weeks no A F, feeling good, and got my pre assessment on monday,

what happens if im still in NSR on pre assessment, and Ablation day, will they do it, or not ?

Hi Higgy,

I don't know the answer to your question but have a similar experience to you. Went into fast, for me, continuous flutter three weeks ago. Saw my EP and agreed on further investigation and possible touch up ablation. Went swimming on Saturday and HR dropped back to almost normal apart from a few fast self terminating runs.

My pre assessment is a week today and I've been wondering the same thing. I suspect they will see what electrical activity can be stimulated on the day and go from there.......I guess the pre assessment will give you a chance to ask the question.

Be good to know how you get on. Keep us posted, and "Good Luck" which ever way it goes.

Why not. You have history. have been scheduled and do not need to be in arrhythmia of any kind for them to do their work. Go for it.

Like they say "we haf vays of making you talk " No but they can induce things with special drugs if they want to see where it is coming from.

Hi ijan,

Yes had pre op assessment. in NSR heart rate 61, but still going ahead with it on the 12th, got to stop Sotalol 3 days before, if still in NSR on day they will give me some thing to bring flutter on as Bob said, If flutter is on right side i will come out same day if on left side of Heart will stay in over night,

not had a pint of beer for 2 years that will bring flutter on, will keep you posted

Hi Higgy,

Good luck for the 12th. Great that you're in NSR.

I'm in on the 11th. If its simple right side flutter they will ablate. If a more complex procedure is needed the plan is to cardiovert, if I'm still in flutter, as there won't be time to do it on Monday. The cardioversion should give some breathing space to plan/book the more complex procedure. If I end up staying overnight I'll keep my eyes peeled for you- assuming you're at Glenfield.

Chin, chin!
