Good morning all !

Thank you for all the lovely wishes.

I'm still in Leeds hospital eating toast at the moment...asked for 2 slices and cornflakes ...im so hungry...

Anyway what I remember Mr Graham saying, I was still out of it, is the AF ablation was a success, he put a line in for flutter and he induced the atrial tachy zapped it but will probably need a touch up. I am over the moon as the scar tissue from my ASD caused him issues but he managed to get in and I was more than prepared I would need a second shot at it. it's all a step in the right direction.

o was told by the nurse I was staying in but Dr Graham said I could go but it was too late as my other half had left and opened a beer so stayed here.

I'm getting all sorts of weird pains in my neck, shoulder and back...is this normal? I had a General Anaesthetic.

love to all xxxx

So pleased to hear that all went well.

After three ablations I never experienced any pains like you describe. I would just mention it to the nurse in charge. You may just have lay in an awkward position during the ablation and if they cardioverted your heart during the procedure - well that powerful shock is enough to strain anything!

Hope you're soon feeling better.

Thank you lovely lady xxoxx

So pleased all went well. You will of course mention your pains to your nurse. I had all sorts of pains after my last ablation which was under GA but none after my previous 2 which were sedation.

Take care and get spoilt for a couple of weeks !

Great, I bet you feel pleased with yourself now! I had pains like yours but put it down to two cardioversions during ablation. Be prepared to feel deflated when the excitement and drugs have worn off but with a good sleep you'll soon be enjoying your new self 😀

Pleased to hear all went well. You will hurt in many places I don't doubt all of which sound normal after a gruelling procedure and lying still for hours on end. Don't be tempted to start doing too much too soon no matter how well you may feel in coming days, your heart has had a bashing and needs gentleness in the coming weeks.

Lots of rest and tlc. Best wishes.

Great news. Encouraging to hear that Lee Graham did the procedure. I'd already thought that if I ever need an ablation I'd probably go to him. Have a lovely rest 💐

Yes hes lovely although far too attractive to be putting tubes in my groin! I am changing from Dr Tayjabee to Dr Graham now, he really is lovely xxoxx

Haha I know what you mean, I used to pray that my OB/GYN would be female, or old and ugly!!

Very glad to have this man personally recommended, nothing beats it. Thank you, and take care xoxo

After our first born, Sam's needlework was attended to by a bronzed Australian surf Adonis who even I nearly fancied. Lol

I felt pain in my shoulder and neck when my phrenic nerve was stimulated- I was awake for my ablation and have rotator cuff problems (too many extreme support strokes from my wild water kayaking days). My neck and shoulder were stiff for a few days. Your pain may have similar origin but, as Jean says, best to check it out with the nurse .

All ok now full of Tramadol with no intention of moving and pain wearing off my lovely moggies on the bed .... So glad to be home! xxxxx

Hi All, I'm home now. Still have the pains but they said it was due to been laid on the slab for 5 hours, so I'm happy with that. just sent my other half for a salad sandwich and cream bun from the bakers I'm Sooo greedy since the op.

On a serious note I'm having lots of wierd missed beats and bumps please could you confirm this is totally normal, it is stressing me a bit, my Kardia says 58bpm but unclassified.... looks free of AF but lots of extra beats then missed ones. xxxx

BobD profile image
BobDVolunteer in reply to booboo73

Yes perfectly normal. Read our fact sheet on recovery again if you have forgotten. Get OH to lock Kardia in the garage.

Buffafly profile image

Don't worry as long as you feel ok, my Kardia recordings looked quite mad after my ablation - because my heart was mad 😡 - best not to look at Kardia if you can resist it........

Pleased that is done - I am 11 days after ablation and I just take a couple of paracetamol when I feel uncomfortable. If you have concerns about the pains speak to the arrythmia team at the hospital you had it done. Your heart and groin need time to recover so get plenty of rest. I have decided not to keep checking my heart rhythm as it will vary after the ablation while the heart heals so it is best not to get stressed about it.

My follow up is at the end of May - they leave it a long time in Liverpool so most of the healing is done and the heart having the occasional AF has settled. It is then easier for them to assess if there is a need for another ablation to fill the gaps.

Best wishes for recovery.

Really good news. Well done!

Good to hear that you are home and recovering well. It's always nice to hear positive news on this site and to see the support fellow AF sufferers give to each other.

Glad all went well

Hi, pleased to hear you are well, are you in the Spire Hospital, that’s where I had mine done three weeks ago.

I got a few aches but hey, it’s a wonderful feeling when the cardiologist is happy how it went. I am still in NSR. X

Glad it's all gone well. I'm interested to hear you've had an ASD repair. I have a friend who gets frequent episodes of AF and believes that as she had heart surgery- I think for an ASD- as a child her atrium is 'too baggy'for ablation. Her PIP is no longer helping and and she had a cardioversion 3 days ago. Was your EP reluctant to do it or just thought it may be tricky because of our previous surgery.

Hope you continue to make good progress.

Glad to hear it all went well, mysterious bumps, skips are all part of the recovery, had mine done May 2018, still get the odd eptopic beats which use to send me into a bit of panic but since taking Magnesium Turate they have reduced greatly and No AF at all so well worth the discomfort.

Glad to hear it went well! As others have said, your heart will be ‘bumpy’ for a bit. It’s been through some major messing about! Take it easy, rest, indulge and give everything time to heal. You mentioned the doc told you that you’d likely need a 2nd one for a touch-up. Did they give you a time frame for that?

So good to hear you’re ok & all went well. I felt like I was wearing a coathanger for quite a while. Make sure you rest & take things very easy for a few months. It all takes time, but worth it in the end. Great news.

My ablation took place 3 weeks ago and I am still having a myriad of aches and pains, mostly in back. They feel like spasms but move around. Hang in there.
