I do not know the answer specifically for your situation but the general advice given is " until normal levels of activity/ mobility have been resumed".

Make sure they are on smoothly and not rolling into a ridge anywhere which will restrict circulation.

Thanks Bagrat, that really helps, don’t want to be doing anything wrong x

When we discharge people with them on, usually after Orthopaedic surgery we say 6 weeks day and night with an hour off for washing and people go home with 2 pairs to rotate. Hand wash them and don't tumble dry them.

Normally 6 weeks is about the time people's fractures start to be more stable or any fixes we've done are suitably recovered for weight bearing/more movement.

I take them off as soon as I am moving around as my legs swell badly in them. EP says that's ok but everyone is different.

Why were you given them? I have never had them for ablation only for day surgery and off on discharge.

Hi, no idea BobD, was measured and given them to put on prior ablation and discharged with them on, do you think it is because I was in overnight perhaps?

If I were you I would ring the arrhythmia nurse and ask her/him. I suspect an oversight.

I got told by a doctor that they did no good! Was really shocked by this! Then I broke a bone in my foot! So couldn’t wear them at all, because the foot is still slightly painful I still can’t wear them!! So I can’t imagine they do a massive amount really.

Hi Ursula, I was released with compression socks on & no advice on how long to wear them. My friend who is a theatre-nurse recommended I keep them on for 'a few days'. I kept them on for about 4 days & then made sure I moved around as much as possible. Hope this helps & that you recover soon.
