I am looking for advice, I have always used non caffeine herbal teas and decaf coffee or decaf expresso since being diagnosed with AF and SVT my doctor took me off decaf coffee or tea and no expresso even though decaf still to high in caffeine, I very seldom drink alcohol andnone since this diagnosis, I drink no pop. I am surviving on water with sugar free squirts to flavour, I am growing sick of just water. I was wondering if I can drink caffeine free herbal tea I am on digoxin, metropolol , soon to switch to Sotololand warfarin.I feel bloated and gassey sometimes and thought tea would help?

Hi myrnalynn52. I drink Redbush tea. It's naturally caffeine free 😊
I have never heard of it but will look it up and give it a try. Thank you so much
I looked it up and thank you headed to store to buy , excited something other than water.
Thank you again
Ive been drinking either Peppermint or lemon tea since diagnosis and really like peppermint tea now!
Have you tried rooibos tea. It’s not got any caffeine in it. I have a couple of cups a day and it is very high in antioxidants (5 times more than green tea I believe). I also drink fresh orange with soda water which is pleasant. If you like beer then the alcohol free types available is very good, so that’s another option.
I will try the Rooibos thank you
I like the fresh orange but cannot have the Sosa water to bad cause I would enjoy it, I was never a beer drinker, I always like more of the different liquors.
Hibiscus tea is lovely and natural and helps reduce blood pressure so always a winner with me, with Peppermint a good alternative.
Hi. I have just posted a question about Digoxin and stomach problems. I only drink decaf peppermint tea but since starting Digoxin at the beginning of December have started suffering with bloating, stomach discomfort and occasionally vomiting until my stomach is empty. I suspect it's the Digoxin.
I also have the gas and bloating but when I brought it up to doctor they did not seem to be concerned,I was not sure if it was the digoxin, metropolol or warfarin that was causing it,I als break out in Sweats, where forehead is soaked , clothes get damp only lasts a few minutes but when I mentioned it to cardiologist he said maybe the meds or unrelated.i am no further ahead.I hope you find an answer
I was put on digoxin to put my heart beating right and once it did go back ok I came off but only had indigestion now and again boil water to drink soon stop that
I would be wary of sugar free squirts or anything sugar free lots of members on here have a problem with artificial sweeteners. I'm lucky i drink nomal tea without any problems. Can you slice fruit into your water and hot water with lemon is lovely x
I never realized that with the squirts, I will quit using them and see if it makes a diffference. I never even thought of the fruit will have to try that. Thanks for the tip. I so appreciate it.
I drink decaf tea which contains lots of various powders such as magnesium, collagen, gelatin, etc. l sweeten it with maple syrup and a cream substitute ... it is yummy and l have zero afib attacks for approximately three years now. I take the lowest dosage of sotalol. I feel normal. High energy. Redbush tea.
Thank you will try the Redbush Tea and will be nice to get off straight water, I am starting the Sotolol on Monday,I hope I have good luck with it as you have.
You will!! I was terrified to start it. Now I’m terrified to stop it! Just take magnesium taurant sp? Powder mixed in with your tea! I take 40 mg morning and night.
I will have to see where to buy that As I have citrate right now.
I don’t know where you are but l buy it on Amazon. It is in powder form and l put two tiny scoops in my tea each morning. It comes with the little scooper. If l remember, l will provide you with its name in the morning.
I am in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada but Thank you I will order from Amazon then , I appreciatate you sending me the info. Thank you, Have a great night.
Vital Biologics, Pure Magnesium Taurate, powder, 125 mg., 200 servings. I suggest that you continue to take your citrate as well as adding the taurate. I take both in powder form. Citrate for cleansing bowels, taurate for afib. Good luck. IT WORKS FOR ME JUST FINE!
How much of each a day would you suggest I take? I am def sleeping better since I started the citrate 150 mg fast absorbing, I have only been taking 1 a day.
Thank you Janith
May you have Live and Light and many Blessings
Continue to take your one pill per day of citrate and if you get the powder take one tiny scoop in the morning in your tea the first week then increase to two tiny scoops the second week if all goes well the first week ... remember, l am not a doc ... but l feel like one considering the amount of research that l do! I wish you good health forever!
What do you take magnesium for
I take it for heart health and irregular heart rhythm (afib). Magnesium taurate. I take Magnesium citrate for total regularity ... both in powder form. I find that my heart doesn’t like it when l don’t go potty each and every morning. I haven’t had afib in almost three years and have had only two attacks in my lifetime.
Herbal tea will be fine just watch things like ginsing or any stimulant if you are triggered by caffeine. I had 4 ablations for afib in the last 2 couple of years and the last one took. Was diagnosed with the rarely used atrial cardiomyopathy and have always had palpatatations throughout my life. I do have to say for me that alcohol is the by far the #1 trigger! Also carbonation and cold things like ice cream or really cold drinks(probably vagal trigger). But regular coffee or tea doesn't ever trigger me at all, and my ep let me drink it in the hospital. It dies whoever get me a little anxious if I drink too much. Sotalol has been the best rhythm controlling drug I have ever taken. It actually took me out of Aflutter in two days after last ablation. I only take 40mg twice a day which is a very small dose, because with metoprolol it will make you so tired! Also your heart rate can get really low, so watch that combo(which I take 50mg metoprolol succ er once and 40mg sotalol twice each day). I was on 100mg metoprolol and 80mg sotalol twice and I couldn't stay awake. One more suggestion is to take eliquis instead of warfarin if you can afford the cost(my ep has given me samples for two years!!! Lucky me!). Are you going to take both sotalol and metoprolol? Sotalol is not a good blood pressure ned if you need one. Anyway herb tea should bother you at all. Good luck and Happy New Year!!!
I am on 75 mg of metropolol 2 x a day and 125 digoxin 1xaday and 5 mg warfarin when I asked for ablation they decided to take me off metropolol and put me on Sotolol cause they said I would not get ablation here unless I was on an antiarrythmic so I am starting it on mon at home , I will still take the digoxin and warfarin, I hope I have good results with the Sotolol cause I am petrified of taking it and at home but that’s the way the cardiologist prescribed it
I wanted to take eliquis but have been hearing lately issues with strokes and bleeds so had not pressed the doctor for it. I was only diagnosed in sept with Afib so this is all so new. I hate going for the blood tests and the restrictions with food. I am extremely grateful for the advice from all of you that have been through it find it feels less scary when you can share experiences.
Thank you about the herbal teas,I appreciate all the advice. I am starting the Sotolol at home on Monday 80 mg twice a day. They took me off the metropolol so will be on digoxin and warfarin with the Sotolol I am hoping it snaps be back into SR, I am booked for cardioversion on the 21. Then I am waiting to be referred to someone else forAblation. Happy New Year and all the best to you
