OK folks having survived the weddiing of the year it is full steaam ahead for Christmas. Just made Grandma's traditional Lemon Parsley and Thyme and Chestnut stuffings (use smashed up cream crackers rather than breadcrumbs as per Jamie Oliver- a lot easier) . Is it too early to put the sprouts on to boil?

Bob- it is very good that you survived ...but those sprouts won’t! Too early 🤣

No Bob, you can’t get those sprouts on early enough! Traditionally it should have been yesterday 😬

Pat

Are you inviting all of us over for a taste?

A bit early for the sprouts Bob....only need about 4 hours.

And never buy frozen ones as they always go mushy whether mirco waved or boiled.

My Nan used to put her sprouts on on the 1st December. Deeelicious!

I was given some sprout seeds complete with tiny pot and growing medium on Sunday. We exchange "joke" presents with this couple each year. She had an ablation 3 or 4 months ago and has done brilliantly. Will my sprouts be grown by the 25th?

One Christmas, when I told the sister in charge of the warfarin clinic that I loved sprouts, I was told I could only have seven, any more would upset the warfarin. Sorry but I just take that chance I love them.

Have a lovely Christmas and a very healthy 2019 to all.

Thought everybody knew sprouts have to go on 1st September for perfect consistency!

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to one and all!!

You can save some time when preparing your sprouts as a recent article said there is no need to make a slit in them. Always a possible danger to those on Warfarin.

They're my favourite veg. My warfarin dose has to be adjusted if necessary to accommodate this !

They are my favourite veg as well, I really don't believe all the negative reactions to them. I used to grow my own when he had a garden and the white fly loved them as well:-)

Bought some from Ocado the other week and they were a mix of misshapen monsters and tiny ones covered in engrained dirt. I really should have complained.

I have always put my sprouts on to boil on the 17th August, I really don’t like them undercooked. I remember my mum used to put hers on on the 25th June, she reckoned sprouts took a good 6 months to cook properly! I think that was a touch too early 😄

Merry Christmas all and a Happy and as Healthy as possible New Year.

Many thanks for all the help and good advice given to me over the last couple of years on the forum xx
