Nightmares and bad dreams

Some of you may remember that some weeks ago I asked if anyone experienced The above that I said were possibly due to my AF Drugs may be Apixaban Since having a TIA a month ago I have been changed to a new set of pills but nightmares just as bad, I know some of you have the same trouble. Last night for instance I became a vet who tried to stop the bad husbandry practises of the hill sheep farmers in Wales, then 2 hours later |I was on a train in Germany and narrowly escaped bing blown up by the IRA. Where did all that come from? I am at my wits end, I asked my Gp if he could suggest someone to talk to but no luck as yet. Does anyone have a solution.

All sounds quite normal to me. When I recall dreams they are always strange adventure episodes or spy stories. I think my id may be Walter Mitty. Best one I had was being able to fly. As Douglas Adams wrote. it is very easy to fly, just throw yourself at the ground and miss. Very sad when I woke up.

Maybe anxiety? Or maybe that the blood supply to your brain is slightly blocked in one area - hence TIA - and is adjusting? One for a doctor I think. I had a morphine pump after an operation and I kept dreaming I was playing a computer game and couldn't stop and rest. I think I remember having similar 'runs' of dreams in the past but I don't now so hopefully yours will wear off.

I had very weird frightening dreams when I was briefly on bisoprolol, which is a known side effect.

I switched to taking my bisoprolol at night as the side effects of it taken during the morning were affecting me the heavy legs and the brain fog made me feel like I was walking through treacle .The arrythmia nurse did say that taking it at night causes some people to have bad dreams and I do have some really weird ones so maybe it is the bisoprolol.

I do have very vivid dreams but am just happy to wake up to my fairly mundane life ( last night I was on a dinner date with Trump!!!)

I started to have horrible dreams after starting on Flecainide & Apixaban, not sure which is the culprit, though I suspect Flecainide as it alters the way the blood flows e.g. through the eye - visual disturbances, which I also had initially, are a well known effect, so why not the brain too?

I was initially taking my meds at 11pm & 11 am, but have changed to 6am (often a bit later - not an especially early riser!) & 6pm. Dreams now tend to be interesting rather than nightmarish!

My bad dreams and nightmares wore off after about six months. I was blaming the bisoprolol, but I suppose it could equally be the apixaban. Either way, I adjusted.

Hi I'm new to these meds Apixiban and bisoprolol but have been taking Atorvastatin and Amlodipine on these for no and cholesterol for 5 years as I have copd but only found out a a fib 6 weeks ago been having scary dreams woke up in panic sweating and in tears then couldn't get back to sleep didn't get thease before a fib meds hope they stop soon as I'm always tired

My dreams are more vivid after I've woken in the night and gone back to sleep. Since taking Bisoprolol they're even more vivid, but often quite interesting too. I used to 'fly' most nights, fabulous flying over rivers and hills, but sadly I haven't in ages ... must be the heavy effect of the Bisoprolol!

I really do understand how you feel. One of the main reasons that I have changed from Bisoprolol to Nebivolol was because of the horrendous nightmares that I experienced. Sometimes I would be screaming in the night, this was happening quite regularly, very loud and frightening for my hubby! He would then try to bring me out of it, I would eventually awaken usually with no recollection of anything, he meanwhile was totally in bits. Six nights on Nebivolol now and no nightmares as yet, also feeling a bit more alive than when on Bisoprolol. I am also on Apixaban but the EP did not seem to consider them the problem. What AF medication are you on?

If your having dreams it because your in a deep realm of sleep. That means your actually in a very deep deep sleep witch is a hood thing . The dreams feel real, and some say they have meaning as far as your deep conscious goes.

Nightmares can be caused by anxiety, so if you have been having a difficult time recently, it may be that rather than meds that cause the nightmares. Certainly, vivid dreams are a side effect of some meds (such as Sotalol); I have noticed that I now recall my dreams much more often than before I took this medication, previously I might recall one per week, whereas now I recall nearly all of them.

To all of you who gave me opinions on nightmares etc. It tells me that it is more common than I knew, one thing I will do is change the taking of my statins etc to tea time instead of bed time, perhaps it will make i difference, will let you know. nothing has got any better yet, it is now at least two nasties every night, so many dead people and cruelty to animals, I just cannot take much more. Can confirm more nightmares on apix and bisiprolol. Sometimes quite severe,
