As you may know, 5 days after my ablation, I wound up in the ER with aFib. It took 14 hours to get me back in normal sinus rhythm and only when they used the drug that I wanted to avoid, Amiodarone.
So follow up doc appointment went well. My heart is in normal rhythm. They lowered the dreaded medicine, Amiodarone, in half. In 1 month I go back and they’ll test the level of it in my system and do a thyroid and liver test to be sure they haven’t been affected. In January they plan to take me off altogether.

All sounds very encouraging Alfieros, just remember to take it easy especially if you are feeling better because it’s so easy to overdo it and knock yourself back......good news!
For 4 days after the ablation I was in normal rhythm but on day 5, I went into a fib then after they gave me some meds, I went into flutter but after awhile went back into Afib. It was pretty intense.
Pleased you are recovering well. None of us like Amioderone but for a short term use it should be OK. I am on it for a few months as recommended by the very experienced EP and have regular blood tests.
Thank you Gin. Yes, my EP also agreed with my cardiologist that Amiodarone was the way to go in my case. They tried several other medications, that did not work, to put my heart back into normal sinus rhythm. I guess nobody really likes amiodarone.
