I'm no stranger to crazy dreams given the various combinations of medications over the years, some I remember for a while, some I recall when I wake for a bit.... few make sense.

The other night I dreamt I had my 5th ablation. Only the EP had been in the lab/theatres for 22 hours when my turn came up. He also needed to open my chest cavity and manually stimulate my heart before leaving me in recovery before the "next part"

Whilst in recovery I developed a cyst/haematoma under the wound in my chest which he came back to see me for..... and pressed it til it popped. Blood spurted out of my chest on the right hand side where a chest drain would normally be. The nurse who dressed my wounds was a complete cow (putting it mildly) and said I shouldn't be complaining (about the leaking wounds)

When they were dressed I was told 2nd part of the procedure (whatever that is) wouldn't be happening because Dr Brown was asleep (again) because of his many hours in the lab.

So I got up and walked out and went to find my other half. We have agreed the next time I have an ablation/appt/pre op she won't take me and leave it to my parents who are local to the EP and not 64 miles away where we live as it isn't fair on the 15 month old and hard to arrange around work/school for her to travel up with me.

In the end after wandering around the streets of manchester I found her parked up in a street by a church, my wounds leaking all over and she wouldn't get out of the car and hug me (Can't imagine why!)

Then my parents found me, and I woke up.

This is probably the first time I've had an ablation related dream.... I sometimes try to research what they might mean but on this occasion I think I'll leave it!

Anyone else remember/share their dreams?

I constantly have very detailed dreams, by constantly I mean every single night from being six years old. I remember eight out of ten dreams and share the content with my family. The rest are vague and soon forgotten. I have any number of detailed colourful dreams a night, sometimes wake up and fall asleep again picking up the thread where I left off. My dad was exactly the same and he talked in his sleep too even answering my mum if she challenged what he was saying lol.

I too can wake up and then when asleep again continue same dream. Sometimes weeks later can "think" whilst asleep, I recognise this situation. Used to have a lot of dreams when just retired, about being way behind with my work on the wards( which I hadn't done for years before retirement). All very interesting. Are dreams to do with making sense of our waking life? Or are dreams real life and this bit is the fantasy?🙄

I very rarely dream - at least that I remember.

It makes sleeping very boring 😂😂

I saw a Jungian psychologist many years ago. He was very interested in dream interpretation. He emphasised the importance of identifying the dominant emotion and it’s intensity, that you felt during the dream.

This might have been anxiety, anger, fear, loneliness etc because he felt this was what the dream reflected in my subconscious. He felt the details were of secondary importance, though any black dogs that wandered by were considered significant 🙁

If I had had your dream, he might have asked me if I was feeling a bit angry.

But no medical related dreams in my case.

I’ve often thought it would be good to have a video recorder in my head so I could rewatch the “movies” which I’m sure would be very entertaining. Of course I’d have to have a private viewing first, in case I needed to censor things 😉😃🎥😴

Hi Jedi

Well, this is how I would interpret that dream.

To me it sounds like you have a fear of the next step in your AF journey (dream open heart surgery bit) and wonder if something will go wrong (doctor popping cyst, opening chest and then leaving you). You're wondering if you'll be let down by the ablation results again (EP asleep, so next part of procedure not done). Fear of girlfriend getting fed up with your heart problems (she wouldn't get out of the car to hug or help you). Despite all this you know that your parents will always be there for you (in your dream they took the time to find you).

Dreams are only that - just dreams! Certainly nothing that's going to come true. Life is what you make it and you can either make it a happy or miserable one. We all have choices in life as to how we behave.

Yes, I've had strange dreams in the past. If I have any more I'll be asking you if you can interpret it for me. Lol.

Be well.

Jean

haha thanks jean!

I used to have very interesting dreams that I could remember. I miss them because since 2011 when I started using a C-Pap machine I can't remember dreams and believe I don't really get deep enough to dream.

Since I wake up during the night and don't sleep well in general I try to take a nap in the early afternoon and this gets me through. If I miss my nap I can be a bear.

I do wake up early to take thyroid medicine and then go back to sleep. During this time I often have thoughts about things to do or ways to solve a problem. It seems to me that because I'm not fully awake and able to be resistant the Universe uses this time to 'talk' to me!

Hi Jedi

Yes! I came on here today with that very topic in mind...spooky! I had AF unsettled night last night, took an extra Flecanaide as advised ,at 12.20 a.m.

Terrific nightmares all night.I was trying to sleep in the spare room as OH had to be up at 530 a.m. for work ,and in the end gave up and sat up.Too tired and upset to read, upset as we had such a lovely holiday, with no episodes at all, despite richer food, some wine etc.

Nightmares were about my husband having a nervous breakdown, screaming t turning into a wild man, thought he was hiding beside the bed, could real!y feel as if I was being grabbed...wow! He is the most gentle giant you could find, and we have been happily married for 36 years..so what that was about I don't know!I am bit worried about his health so that's probably it.

Blimey though,you're was pretty epic...😨

Horrid experience, I bet you were relieved when you woke up!

I've always had vivid dreams and nightmares, but since taking Bisoprolol they've become more interesting. Sometimes I relate them to my husband who thinks I should write a thriller 😲

Well if Opium helped Byron, just think how much more amazing his works would’ve been if he’d been on Bisoprolol lol x

Just - WOW.

No, I've had detailed dreams, but generally succeed in forgetting them as soon as I get up. Luckily, the very intense and detailed dreams I started getting when I first took the Bisoprolol have since stopped entirely, perhaps because my body has become accostomed to it. Now that we've moved into using the winter quilt on the bed I've slept more soundly than usual and have not had a dream for weeks.

Can I have the rights to the film, sounds like a blockbuster

Got another one - on a cruise ship last night. I have a fear of drowning (as I can't swim) going back to my swimming lessons in Primary school. I remembered it clearly at 5am when I woke up, but now 4 hours later I'm struggling to remember much though I'm fairly sure there was Bingo going on, maybe a casino (where my other half and I first unofficially dated), and massive waves... possibly a capsizing or rolling onto its side (I was playing a truck simulator last night and managed to roll it somewhere in northern France)

I often wonder how the brain threads together stuff that has happened during your life, even as recent as same day, with unconscious fears and reservations. It's fascinating!
