Hi-Tech T shirt to detect AF

Just picked this up from the AFA's facebook page.

Sounds interesting and would be a whole lot cheaper I would assume (to the NHS) than inserting a reveal device/loop recorder (I was told mine cost £1000) and more comfortable, convenient and reliable than, eg, a 7-day Holter monitor.

AFA are asking if people would wear one. I would (if I didn't have the reveal device), would you?

Apparently it has prophetic powers as well as it can 'foresee' attacks 😁

Well ... if it detected an arrhythmia, such as AF, then it would be 'foreseeing' a 5x risk of stroke would it not (if no anticoagulation)?

We know that but intro didn't specify what sort of attacks and I wouldn't class a stroke as an attack, just being picky now because it's the Mail.

Usually I'd say pick away at the Daily Fail all you like, but in this instance it seems pretty clear to me that the 'Attack' mentioned in the second line of the emboldened 'header' refers to a stroke or Trans Ischaemic Attack (TIA).

Anyway …. would you wear one of the vests if it was suspected that you might have AF? That was the question to which the AFA was looking for answers.

Sorry, I thought it was a rhetorical question to catch attention - of course I would wear it as it is a huge improvement on the 7 day monitor, which left me with a raw patch for weeks, and the reveal device in terms of cost.

Seriously I would wear one now. But even if we all had one, the problem will be who will read and interpret all the data it transmits! You may be in the afterlife or beyond before anyone looks at it!

Me too … now …. not very attractive, is it? The T shirt on the Daily Fail page was a bit different from that one! Even so - I can see the advantages if what they are trying to do is 'catch' an episode of AF before deciding on a diagnosis and treatment plan and I would think it's still a whole lot better than a Holter monitor. I guess it's a move in the right direction.

Let’s put it this way it sounds good in theory! If it actually works like a holter monitor then it’s great improvement to that darned box clipped to my waistband!!

We need to know it’s reliability and accuracy ..... I would test it out for them if they need volunteers!!!
