I had an ablation on July 10 2018 and I am about to come off Flecainide and Metoprolol, what should I expect ? Has anybody else had issues ?

I’m not medically trained Mike, but it’s normally suggested that you should slowly wean yourself off betablockers over a period of time but this is not necessary with Flecainide. Suggest you check this with your specialist.

I was not on flecainide but propafanone and took a month to slowly ease back cutting pills in half then every other day etc. A few ectopics were all that I noticed.

I was told to come off flecainide the day after my ablation which I did, there were no problems. Hope all goes well for you.

Mike, I was on both those medications, but still in AF which was constant for 8 months. Stopped them one day and went back into sinus rhythm and have slept better and felt extremely well ever since. So you can guess what I think.

That's good to know Jean :-) l have been wondering how you were getting on. It looks like you made the right decision. I hope you are feeling better without so much medication too ...

I had no problems coming off flecainide at the end of April. Was on 2x 59mg

I was advised to come off my diltiazem 200mg slowly ( it was my rate control and also reduces blood pressure but I did not have high bp) . I came off this over a week, I dropped initially to 120mg tablets, which I already had, and then one x 120 every other day. It took 4 to 6 weeks to get rid of the side effects after I stopped though! Tiredness and particularly brain fog.

I just stopped taking flecainide 100 mg twice daily and metoprolol 12.5 mg twice daily with no problems at all. ( cardiologist approval of course)

I had an ablation on the 9th of July, but my EP wants to keep the beta blocker and Flecainide going for 3 months. :-( 2 months and a week left!!! I guess it's just his way interpreting the research and his own experience. My afib wasn't constant so I'm feeling the same as prior to the ablation - with no episodes, occasionally feel an ectopic beat...like a few times per day.

Hope you have a seamless transition.
