It’s now nearly three months since I was changed from Bisoprolol to Nebivolol and got back my energy and ability to do more than very mild exercise without gasping for breath.
This morning I decided seriously to tackle the weeds in my berry patch - something which would have been unthinkable whilst I took Bisoprolol.
Hoe, rake, gloves and Border Collie side-kick in tow, I did a super job and felt sooo proud of myself. I also felt a massive twinge in my stupid back. I’m now immobile and cussing a silly old woman who thinks she’s a young thing.
You can’t win - maybe Bisoprolol is there to keep our exuberance in check? 😂

It's ironic isn't it, taking heart medication can prevent you from doing the things that can help your heart and the less you do the less you are able to do.
Yes, it is four years since I needed to take care not to overdo anything - Bisoprolol did it for me. I did struggle in the last years to keep as fit as I could by doing short stints - lesson learned (ha ha).
Oh dear ! So easy to get carried away in the garden....learnt my lesson in the past! I need to get on with cutting back bushes but it's so hot I keep putting it off and the ground is rock hard (South East coast ). Hope you haven't done too much damage ?!
We had a long dry spell in N Ireland which kept many of the weeds down and I thought I would hit them whilst they were down. Just a pull and a wee warning - ice pack, hot waterbottle and Downton DVD’s for the rest of the day.
Sorry to read that but so typical of us who still think we are 35! I did some digging the other evening and wondered why I had aches all over yesterday. In fact it is only your story which allowed the penny to drop.

Walking wounded today Jean, thank goodness. I love Border Collies - we’ve always had one but since we moved to the middle of a hill farm, we’ve had to make sure the dog does no freelance sheep herding! It always amazes me just how easy they are to train.
Sorry to hear that Finvola, lets hope you're soon ok again and can set about your garden at a slower pace. Collies are extremely intelligent and so eager to help and please. Just love them.
A GP has the authority Vonnie. When I saw my GP, I mentioned the symptoms but I concentrated more on the impact on my life which those symptoms were having and suggested Bisoprolol could be to blame. Breathlessness was already mentioned in my cardiologist’s reports (several times) so my GP immediately suggested I try Nebivolol.
I still know that I'm taking something which 'dampens' me down and I'm not as active as I was before starting beta blockers but it's the comparison between the effects of the two on my breathing which is amazing.
My resting pulse on 1.25 Bisop was in the low 70’s and on 2.5 Nebivolol is in the mid 60’s. I also suspect (will regret saying this) that my ectopics are less noticeable, although that could be a co-incidence and I’m just in a quiet phase at the moment.
Oh dear! Well thats one way to think of bisoprolol in a good way!! Hope your back settles soon...youll have to content yourself with sitting and admiring your efforts. Take care xx
Still waiting to take this step as there always seems to be something happening before I do! This time its daughter grandson and dog coming for the week and expecting ructions between my cat and dog!! Will report on outcome next week! 😯😕
