Well I am now post ablation 10 months now and I feel it’s time to try and jump off the blockers as I am on 2.5 from 10mg before my procedure. I am with my EP a week Friday and think I want off them if it’s ok with my EP . Still waiting on my test results from my echo and stress test 🙄 but my heart rate is back down in the 40s and I feel I am getting more ectopic beats again. I will opt for the pill in the pocket to be on the safe side , blood pressure is good however the ectopic beats get me down and they are back after eating or lying down again. My heart feels better in the 60s and this is just to low for me and it gets me down . Has anyone else had this problem after ablation?

I would agree with you Sam but of course wait to discuss with your EP. I have Bisoprolol as a pill in the pocket. It doesn't agree with me as a daily drug...completely wipes me out.
Yes it is definitely worth asking as this you must only do with the blessing of your EP.
I came off Bisoprolol a year ago as my heart rate often dipped as low as 37bpm, I was suffering from Bradycardia because of bad conductivity between the heart chambers.
Also, like you it is clear to me that I get many more Ectopics when I rest and my heart rate slows. I hate Ectopics. In addition in the days when I had PAF my AF episodes would normally kick in most often when I was sitting and resting.
Can I ask why you’re still on them 10 months later? I had my 2nd ablation 16th April and it was purely because I couldn’t bare to be on bisoprolol. This is also why I had the first ablation 11 years ago, drug intolerance, so I just wonder why people are still on drugs along time after a successful ablation? I stopped bisoprolol about 10 days ago (not seen cardiologist for follow up yet) but I know my heart, I’ve stuck with the flecainide and rivarixaban until I see him in a few weeks, maybe I’ll get told off, but I’m actually living life again without falling asleep 2 mins after sitting down.
I am very symptomatic and had af once 16 months ago as I had SVT undiagnosed that was found on ablation day . So they done the cryoablation for AF then the RF ablation procedure on the same day for the SVT and found something else so ablated it , so I had a lot done in the one day . My recovery has been slower than most people and I did drop from 10mg to 5mg quick but I have seen this happen before over the past 10 months I feel ok then heart palpitations and rate goes into the 40s so reduce meds and settles again. I am also coming off diazepam and this is what sent me into AF that night as I cut my dose , had I known I had an SVT I would not have done this as quickly as I did before . I no I had not had any PAF before because number 1, I felt it and I no it was different than previous beats , 2/ I had an implant loop recorder in for 3 years that didn’t pick AF up or my SVT but SVES and palpitations that was in sinus. However my left atrium enlarged probs due to blood pressure going up and down coming off the diazepam and giving me all them palpitations over the years before, so EP wanted to do things slow, I have not taken my blocker today and heart rate has gone from 48 to 58 👍🏼 it will take 48 hours to get out the system and we will see how it goes . However I have never been on flec only ever taken a blocker bisoprolol, flec can help with symptoms to so you won’t no if your ablation procedure has been successful until all medications are stoped. I was on diltiazem rate control as I cannot tolerate beta blockers and I stopped them on the 15th May following my Ablataion in February and I feel a lot better for it. One upside is that seem to have redeveloped memory! I am also less tired.
Dear Sam, just a thought but some of your symptoms could be from withdrawal from the beta blockers, even when reducing from day 2.5 to 1.25mg it should be tapered. Bisoprolol is the worst, a horrible poison that has horrible side effects such as tight chest, breathlessness, anxiety among many others when on it, coming off is horrendous for some, I only took it for 2 weeks, 1.25mg which my gp described as a baby measure, yeah right, I had to come off it as I felt so bad, 8 weeks later I only just feel normal again
Sorry to hear this 😢 before my ablation procedure I was on 10mg and was so tired, they told me to stop them 5 days before procedure and I did , first 2 days were horrible shakes and felt very anxious 😧 but then by day 3 I felt better and by day 5 I was convinced the blockers had caused my heart palpitations because my heart was the best it’s ever been in years . I nearly stopped my ablation procedure because I felt that good . However on ablation day I had a couple of undiagnosed things found that I new I had for years since I was younger but could never catch them as they only happened every few years 🙄 have not taken my blocker today ( without EP telling me 2) but see how I go . I see them next week so I am monitoring my BP and heart rate closely now and hopefully will start to feel better again. Thank you for your feedback and hope your ok to ❤️
