Weak thighs

I wonder if any one experiencing weak thighs some days.

I am on apixaban and perindopril and have asymptomatic af now for 3 years diagnosed after a stroke. I am female and 69 years.

I walk daily ca 2 hrs but some days I experience very weak thighs and I can only walk very slow and get exhausted after 30 minutes. It doesn't improve with determination . I know it's not unusual to get breathless when walking up hill but this weakness is bothering me. My GP hasn't got an explanation. I wonder if it is age related but people older than myself don't get this nuisance .I am grateful for advise..

By the way, i enjoy reading all your posts and have learned a lot through this forum. A big thank you to all of you.

Perindopril is not a drug I have any knowledge of but reading up on google, weakness is a common side effect. Why not go back to your doctor and ask if there is another drug you could try.

Thank you. Do you have knowledge of an alternative drug?

We must not advise on drugs as we are not medically trained. Sorry.

I had this happen to me several years ago with pain in the quads and hamstring muscles that got worse the more I walked.A physio. diagnosed a shortening in my hamstrings and quads muscles . She lengthened them with a stretching exercise and I had a miraculous recovery. She said it would come back and it did after several months so I had to have another treatment. and I have seen her a couple of times a years since then but nothing in the last year. So.....could be this ?Hunt around for a good physio. before you seek treatment.Mine was very experienced.

I am on Apixaban 5mg a day, i can only walk slowly and a short distance about the length of a football pitch without stopping and leaning on something, Not exactly breathless but exhausted, fell as tho I have run a marathon. My heart man says I suffer from "Acute fatigue". I am 81 but up to 8years ago could do everyhting at double speed. What next?

That's exactly how I feel. Do we have to put up with this now or is there an alternative?

Thanks for your reply
