Hello

Just go online with a comparison site, they are as good as any.

If you are staying here it shouldn’t be too bad

My last one was through coverwise.co.uk.

20:00 for a years insurance even with af included and cover abroad.

Ady

Cheers Ady......and how are you?

Think it may be possibly your neck of the woods we are visiting.......based in Harrogate and trips out to Moors/Haworth?Whitby etc

Hi. I usually do a price comparison site first. There are a few including compare the market and money saving expert. Recent best quotes have been from Staysure and World First but for foreign travelers. May be another company better for Uk. Make sure you check cheap quotes for cover and exclusions as cheapest not always best!

Sounds like you are venturing into northern England where I lived for many years. If the weather holds its a beautiful place!! Enjoy your holiday. Liz

Thank you :)

There are some suggestions on the AF Association webpage

Why do you want insurance for a holiday in the UK when you live on the Isle of Wight ?

??? Its got nothing to do with where we live.......surely that is irrelevant????

We have booked an escorted break with a company called "Rail Discoveries".......they ask if you want/need cancellation insurance etc.....then they ask the "medical conditions" question.....its not just about my AF.....

£860 plus is quite a lot to lose, if we had to cancel for ANY reason.....

Yes, it would be. Companies like that charge a lot for things that you can organise yourself.

Quite. You should not need sickness insurance for holidays in the UK.

It is different for us as we always travel independently and usually booked at last minute to get bargains. We took a package tour to Beijing once as it was a bargain Jules Verve out of season one. We ignored all of their included trips and did our own sightseeing apart from the one to the Great Wall. As we were leaving they asked why we had not gone on their trips.

The one time we did book a flight early to America for a sports meeting the airline (Brannif) went bust about six months before we were due to travel. Fortunately American Airlines took over the route and US authorities made them honour Brannif tickets.

Thanks mycallc and Seasider18 for your useful comments.

This is really just a "if we had to cancel" scenario, not particularly for AF but for any reason.......i.e. last weekend my husband got a really nasty D&V bug and there is no way we could have travelled anywhere!! Its just for peace of mind, really...do you think i am being over cautious??

I have, in the past organised many holidays for us,.....(usually in France)........debatable if this one in UK would be cheaper, if I did it myself.....as we get full board plus a trip out every day on either coach or steam train......just something a bit different for a few days really.

Of course, companies are more expensive, but sometimes its just nice to hand over to someone else......last year Eurostar was delayed and we missed our connection in Paris. The tour guide was the one who had the unenviable task of getting all 22 of us seats on the next available TGV!!

Which area are you going to ? My favourite is the West Highland line.

Ah..... that is one I REALLY want to do!

North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Plus excursions to Whitby and York and also the Bronte Parsonage.

Fingers crossed for decent weather eh? : )

Good luck with the weather. When we lived in Scotland we used to do trips in winter on the West Highland line and to Kyle of Lochalsh, Mallaig and Oban. Once when needing to change at Perth the train doors were frozen shut but I also had that when I lived in Surrey.

I like Carlisle to Newcastle and Carlisle to Settle. We did a few in Yorkshire as well. One of my foreign favourites Is from Oporto along the river Douro to the Spanish border.

You may find your Household insurance covers other risks of loss or damage within the UK. As for cancellation cover, AF should not be a reason to be concerned that you may have to abort your trip. A nice relaxing holiday should be an excellent thing for the condition. I was on my way to Sri Lanka when a bad attack of AF occurred at Heathrow. Phoned my cardio and he just said to relax and continue with the holiday.
