Hi does anyone know how I can receive a new one of the above please apart from the internet pdf please.

Most anticoagulant medicines contain a patient Alert card within the packet.

Perhaps it’s just Rivaroxaban that provides them then but a few weeks ago when this was last discussed i got the impression that it was general. My mistake.

No its not - pradaxa & apixaban have for sure! You could always make your own, print out on business cards.

I used to be on Warfarin and had a yellow book for recording, these you will get at the hospital or clinic

It’s an alert card - to alert paramedics and A&E in an emergency - of course they accept it. No different to carrying a alert card from AFA or drug company. What I do is put on my NHS number, name and contact of my specialists, list of medications and a photograph of myself looking well as my face changes when I’m not. And yes you can get it all on a small card if double sided & then laminate it.

I also believe it's because vitamin k will not stem a serious bleed unlike other generations of anticoagulants. Excuse me if I'm wrong

Have never seen one in any Warfarin packet. I think mine may have been given to me at my first visit to the doctors surgery to have my INR tested. It wouldn't surprise me if our local pharmacy had them too.

Where did you get the medical alert band? I carry a card but suspect no one will look in my purse for it if I was in an accident.

I also have a medical alert bracelet from the id band company online which alerts people to the card in my purse with all my details on it.

Mine came from a supplier on eBay. There are a variety of medical alert bands available, from expensive jewellery types down to plastic imitation braided leather, but the ones I find most useful are simple neoprene (elastic) bands as used for many other purposes. Mine are white and say 'ANTICOAGULANT' and 'APIXABAN MEDICATED' together with the international med-alert symbol.

Thanks. I have looked on amazon and cannot find any elastic ones. They would be ideal to hang from my driving mirror or off my handbag. Can not find handbag charms that are alerts. Shall carry on looking.

I went online and bought a Medical alert bracelet which I wear all the time.

Apixaban do have a card in every box, but I do not take bag etc everywhere I go, so bracelet is simple answer.

Hi Trace. Speak to your Anticoagulation Clinic they should give you a pack that contains a card. You can also show this card to dentist's now as more and more of them are asking to see this card.

Apixaban has one in every packet. You could make your own warning about the particular drug you are taking.

hi tracey. This can be serious if not epicked up my healthcare workers. But we all know this. I was on Coumadin for a long time and have never had a paramedic even ask me about anticoagulants. I am 74 and a retired nurse so always mentiond the coumadin to anyone within earshot. I always worried about being in an accident and not being able to speak for myself. I had a card in my wallet but thought it could be too easily overlooked. So this was my solution. I ordered a rubber bracelet (actually several for backup) online that said in clear big letters "On anticoagulants" The rubber (or silicone ) bracelets are inexpensive and don't have to be removed like metal for various reasons as a patient. I would start by googling something like custom silicone bracelets for sources. You can choose your colors, print type etc. I got the idea from a similar bracelet sent to me by the ASPCA after joining. And the reason I ordered several anticoagulant ones is because once my ASPCA bracelet was accidently cut off my wrist whenl a nurse was removing my hospital Id tag before discharge. The bracelet will be seen by any emergency person who picks up your hand to start an IV. I would get a bright color. A wallet card is also a good idea but I could probably bleed to death before anyone could wade through my wallet looking for a card. (LOL but not really funny.) Which brings me to another thing I do. I have my emergency info printed on 4x6 index cards and inside a ziploc freezer bag which I believe will be discovered long before they get to my wallet. I have since gotten off the AC's and now have a bracelet that says "PACEMAKER". Hope this little novel is helpful.

Yes there was one in every single box of apixaban I've ever opened. However when I was on warfarin it only came direct with the initial "starter pack" and "yellow book"
