I’ve been on Bisoprolol 2.5mg and Amlodipine 5mg for 18 day’s now after being on Ramipril for 3 weeks previous for erratic and high blood pressure and in the last few days my blood pressure is really low 95/63 with heart rate of 48, I’ve just gone into a warmer climate too, so I’m tired and don’t feel great, what should I do?

I would suggest you go back to see your doctor to discuss.

BP is not considered low until it goes below 90 systolic but your HR is low so no wonder you feel rubbish!

Speak to your doctor. We must not give advice about drugs as we are not medically trained but your low heart rate does look to be the culprit.

Yes realise that, am 63 now, started all this BP treatment with Ramipril 6 weeks ago, saw Cardio 18 day’s ago, hence extra drugs, seems now all kicking in too good as was 170-200/100-110 before for about 4 weeks before I saw Dr initially and was feeling crap with a racing heart then!

Since, after reducing from 6-8 cups a day to just 2, I have cut out caffeine completely for 2 weeks now as i realised it made my heart race too once this high BP problem started, there was a definite trigger there I found, although been on 6-12 cups all my adult life previously!

That dosage of Bisopprolol took my heart rate down to 34bpm within 24 hours when AF had taken it into the 130's.

Before getting a pacemaker as they thought that my normally in the 40's heart rate with 3.5 second pauses was to low I felt much better than I do now as it is not allowed to go below 60.

I weaned myself off my anti-hypertensives. More distress from the side effects then therapeutic benefits. All done in discussion with or informed my GP. I feel alot better on Carvedilol 25 mgs BD.

I have regular Ambulatory BP monitoring from the GP when ever there is a drug change.

i am using a 15 mins Resp e rate machine to lower my BP through breath control.

I have just picked up on the warmer climate aspect.I was told by my GP that Some Bp medications work by widening the blood vessels and your body does same so you get lower Bp.
