Hi there so if I fast for Easter, that is no meat products or anything that comes from animals e.g. milk or eggs.

Am allowed prawns and squid and mussels and all the green stuff, do you guys see any issues re stresses on the body, changes and AF?

A meat low or free diet has been suggested as a good thing for AF.

mmmm thanks Bob interesting, why would meat affect AF?....other doctors have looked at me strangely when I have said to them about fasting in the past.

If you are prescribed warfarin then your NRI might plummet.

Years ago I went to a cancer help clinic. They advised a low meat diet. They reckoned that meat travelled slowly through your gut and deteriorated, releasing toxins. Your body's defences had to deal with those toxins when they should be dealing with cancer cells.

Very interesting Jenny, the majority of meat sold is very poor quality no doubt loaded with the toxins you refer to. I find at 64 my interest in meat has reduced and I eat less and here is the important bit, when I do it is pasture fed organic almost all the time.

The problem is we eat too much meat generally, however, I was recently advised to increase my red meat consumption after quite a few years of eating none or only occasionally because my iron levels dipped and red meat is the most easily digestible source of iron. Now i do eat meat once a week.

As Jennydog mentioned any big change in diet could affect INR diet so I would suggest dropping things gradually, not all on one day.

I can only think this will benefit your health - as others have said a diet low in red meat, high in fatty fish & high in leafy greens is to be recommended.

I would also add beans and pulses into your diet 3-4 out of 7 days as your source of protein as I wouldn't be eating fish every day. White fish once a week for Iodine, oily fish for Omega Oils & vitamins and maybe some shell fish occasionally?

Plenty of great recipe ideas on Yummly.

Thanks for everyone's responses very interesting indeed. I think everyone is different some people mention body types that is some of us naturally need or yearn meat others don't. None the less it is only for 40 or so days so a bit of a detox too.
