This is very individual and contentious for some because alcohol especially binge drinking can cause AF. I am taking bisoprolo, bumetanide and Edoxaban and have not changed my drinking habits. If I fancy a drink I have one or two or three or more on special occasions. I have not noticed any change to my AF and when I was in hospital for over a month it didn't bother me not having a drink. My EP says that I know my own body so he is happy. It's so individual but for me, if somebody said you can't, then I would miss it. As it is I am in charge and I can take it or leave it. But that is me, not necessarily you.

I drank 2 glasses of a very nice red wine in Early December and my afib has been very bad for 6 weeks. So no alcohol since and its calming down now. So you just have to go by your own reaction. I may risk a glass of cider sometime. But am abstaining for now. Alcohol is definitely a trigger.

I am on digoxin and I would enjoy a glass of wine at the weekend x

I am currently on 125 mcg digoxin daily along with 12.5 mg Carvedilol twice daily and currently drink one glass of red wine per day and maybe 2 or 3 glasses more at the weekend if socialising. I've been in permanent AF for 4 yrs, had an ablation for atrial flutter 2yrs ago and am listed for a further ablation when the NHS can afford it. Pulse rate under control, if a little higher than ideal and mental state okay except when I think about Brexit and the hopeless government the NHS is struggling with - that in itself requires a glass of something to soothe my angst!

Ha ha you made me smile this morning, I have to agree with you, especially about the glass of something to deal with the angst 😀

Hi,

I'm taking Bisoprolol and Perindipril plus Flecainide and I've found through trial & error that white wine definitely a trigger for my AF yet I can drink a tall glass with southern comfort and coke/lemonade and I'm fine! Weird how one thing can trigger an episode and other things are fine.

stay well

Blue :-)

I'm on bisoprolol and have about six units per week (wine). I find more than one glass at a time raises my heart rate, which suggests it's working against the bisoprolol. For me, anyway.

The episodes of Afib I have had have never had anything to do with alcohol, so yes, I still drink white wine. I would stop if it ever was a trigger but I must admit I would miss it.

In permanent AF on Bisoprolol and drink 2 small glasses of red wine every evening plus a couple of pints across a week. No problems and I’m determined the condition will not control my life. Be the boss.

Haven't had alcohol in four years on bisoprolol flecainide amlodopine and warfarin. I have paraxysmal af so just don't want anything to interfere with my meds. Don't miss it at all and lost weight. No issue for me but understand people like a drink. As long as you are ok and you have discussed with medical team enjoy !

Yep I drink probably more than I should. I’m on Bisoprolol and pradaxa no side affects what so ever. I know people on this forum will be the sooth sayers of doom. Live your life how you want to live it one or two drinks.Or in my case five or six ain’t gonna killl you AFI is a condition not the end of the world.

Haven't had alcohol for fourteen months and take Ramipril, Bisoprolol and Warfarin. Would be lying if I said I didn't miss a nice glass of wine but I am too scared to take any in case my AF comes back. Had a successful ablation last February and would hate to undo the good work by drinking alcohol.

Yes. I’m on bisoprolol and have type 2 diabetes and have pacemaker. I drink Heineken 00 most days and a couple of bottles of good red wine per week. You’re welcome to join me.
