Hi All

I have been putting up with AF for about 8 years now, it has increased in frequency now about 2 or 3 times a week and lasts for about 10 to 12 hours, not overly rapid heartbeats up to 123 bpm but it's the palpitations and misbeats that gets me, leaves me tired and irritable, have been on the waiting list for about 9 months now for the ablation op also take the common drugs flec and biso any advice would be appreciated

Waiting time of 9 months is probably the norm in most areas. It's 12 months in my area.. south east. ( first ablation in London 2009...i was offered one in 6 weeks !).

However with the frequency of your AF now can you perhaps see if your EP can be informed of this and may be classed more urgently.

No Steve British through and through it's just a nickname I was given

My AF gradually got worse and eventually became almost 24/7. At that point I had an ablation and it worked just great, best thing ever. I couldn't even feel my heart afterwards, it was soooo wonderful. And I stopped all drugs (except anticoagulants).

Eventually, 8 years on, my AF came back a bit, but nowhere near as bad as it would have been by now without the ablation.

Definitely if it's getting worse then telling them must have an impact on the priority they give you.

Hope you don't have to wait much longer.

Have you tried any life style changes weight loss, no alcohol, and have you been checked for sleep apnea,it seems that changing some of things help to lessen the AF burden hope you get a date soon.

Hi Brizzy5000. Sorry you are having such a miserable time, my first suggestion is to go back to Cardiologist or EP and have the meds changed while you wait for ablation. Bisoprolol had bad side effects for me, breathlessness and terrible lethargy along with rapid weight gain. I am on Atenolol and Flecainide and what a difference. If you cant see the Cardiologist or EP then go to your GP and ask them to contact Cardio to change meds as life is so bad. You need to keep pushing to find a better quality of life as if you stay silent, the medical team wont seek you out. There is light at the end of the tunnel, keep insisting. Good luck.
