A big sneeze stopped my AF! :o)

I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself this last week, having bad tonsillitis/chesty cold and temperature etc. Plus three episodes of bad AF, probably triggered by the infection and fever.

About an hour ago, I did a really big sneeze and my heart instantly went back into sinus rhythm!

Well this is something to try in the future... I'll be reaching for the pepper pot or chilli powder to induce a big sneeze haha :o)

Has anyone else found this 'remedy'?

Yes that can happen my AF has also started when I have sneezed too hard it's really strange

Like a really hearty Valsalva manoeuvre, I suppose! How interesting...

Yes, it has Wendy. Although trying to initiate a sneeze is not easy :)

Snuff?

Perhaps it is the shock? Bit like going up behind someone with hiccups and shouting boo. Someone just posted that their AF stopped when a dog barked.

Comisserations about cold - I am just recovering from this chesty cough which seems to last 4+ weeks which also exacerbated AF episodes.

I’ve had all sorts of things suddenly flip me back to NSR including coughs, chiropractic adjustments, going on my CPAP - post about a dog barking stopping an episode recently - difficulty is replicating the effect consistently - but we keep on trying! x

There are a few recognised ways of converting oneself to NSR . As well as those already mentioned a really really hearty (sorry! ) cough, dunking your face into freezing cold water or drinking icy water or sucking ice cubes. These shock the heart to react and are always worth a try.

Incidently, if you feel the symptoms of a heart attack coughing your guts up is a good thing to do while you seek help.

My only one natural reversion occurred when i'd won on the Roulette wheel on a cruise. I asked for my chips to be cashed in and i felt a wobble and that was it.

I haven't been able to revert since, even looking for electric fences to hold on to, and jumping in an outdoor pool recently when the water temp was 8C.

I have had some big sneezes, but none have forced me back into NSR

Try rubbing your the tip of your tongue against the roof of your mouth, a bit further back than your front teeth - Am I the only one who can induce a sneeze this way? - Cheaper than pepper!!!!

Well I've been trying but it doesn't seem to work for me :o)

I'd pay a lot of money for pepper if it consistently stopped an AF episode haha!
