Long haul air travel

It is recommended that when travelling on long haul flights one should wear compression stockings to avoid Deep Vein Thrombosis in the legs. My question is that if one is already taking Rivaroxaban on a daily basis is it still necessary to wear compression stockings or will the Rivaroxaban be enough to safeguard against Deep Vein Thrombosis?

I'd have thought it was a good idea to wear compression stockings too, but see the answers to a similar question last year:

I use compression socks for any flight over 4 hours...better safe than sorry .They are surprisingly relaxing!I take Apixaban and before that Warfarin.I do not know the med. reason as to why one still needs the socks if taking an NOAC or whatever.....but in this case I' just do it'.

Better safe than sorry I think. It might be belt and braces but you would kick yourself (if still able ) if you didn't and had a DVT.

I asked EP if I should wear flight socks and was told yes - on warfarin at the time (now apixaban)

I wore my for a flight to Turkey whilst taking warfarin. Now on NOACS and going long haul and plan to wear them again ( they have been washed) as they say, every little helps!

I wear them even on short haul flights. Find them really comfy (once I`ve got them on)! Better to be safe than sorry.

My legs swell up around them so I was told not to. Also was told you can only wear them once and definitely not after washing as they lose their effectiveness.
