It strikes again! My friend afib and his buddy anxiety need to go!

Hi awesome people! It's been awhile since I've wrote anything or replied to any posts. I've been extremely busy with work and had no episodes for almost 2 months! Well I felt like a superhero pushing close to 60 hours a week in a pretty physical job. (Lumber industry) I started to feel tired one night but very restless! I fell asleep but i felt a flutter but no heart pounding due to medication (bystolic) that keeps my heart in check pretty well. But the next morning 6am came and i felt like i could hardly walk! Super fatigued! Dammit I try and push and my legs felt like i was just off balance. Not dizzy spinning just felt weak and able to walk without grabbing something. Getting ready with time for work i decide to push and take a small walk before going to work...my body was not having it. I called in and called the doc. Ugh the doctor was explaining no matter how good you feel over exertion is common and unacceptable. Needless to say I've been in the house for 4 days. Fatigue or anxiety is my question? How long has someone felt like this after a episode? Days, weeks? My doctor is recommending a career change...I'm considering a at home job as a virtual assistant. Anyone ever maintain a full time physical job or tried working from home? As always thanks for all your awesome support! I appreciate your feedback very much!

Very individual but I can feel very tired for days after an episode and they are always more frequent and intense when I push through fatigue feelings, when I am stressed, moving after food, poor diet and not enough sleep. And I hardly have any alcohol these days and restrict myself to 1 good coffee a day.

But then I am now retired - I first went part-time for a few years though.

You have to listen to your body otherwise he will start screaming - in one way or another!

I used to work with my first husband in a family run horticultural industry, I was mainly office based, but we found that very few people could sustain the very physical labour the work entailed into late middle-age and most had to go part-time or retire in their 50's - without AF!

I have over many years realised that because I consistently ignored stress ( and yes I know a modicum of stress is good for us) and just got on with it, my body has had to slap me in the face with physical symptoms to get me to just STOP. I had an unusual childhood by many standards and even then physical issues were the ones that got me help! During my working life I got migraines 90% of the time on days off but worked long hours in a setting which constantly put me in contact with distressed people.

After retirement and my husband's heart attack, I developed a weird collection of symptoms which recurred from time to time and had to rest till they subsided ( including chest pain etc). Then came AF which was a relief as there was a measurable physical cause for what otherwise seemed to be anxiety driven physical symptoms.

I then was recommended mindfulness meditation and had three sessions with Human Givens Counsellor which has put me back in control for the majority of the time ( please Google if interested) some of the strategies seem strange to a skeptic like me but they worked.

Sorry to ramble but I do wonder if people who can express their emotions better than I, accept when they need to slow down and don't try to be all things to all people, fare better!!!

I love the Human Givens approach!

Interesting that Bystolic is a blood pressure medication? Not specifically for AF? Does your doctor recommend taking something when you get AF (a pill in pocket medication to kick you back into sinus rhythm quickly?). Good luck with stopping the AF !

I take bystolic for the heart rate and to keep hypertension in control i was taking lisinopril then weened off and did awesome for months. But i dont have anything i take immediately if i feel something? I am going on 8 days of pure fatigue. Could be im restless due to constantly thinking now. Not sure.
