Skipped beats and coughing

I've had a cryoablation 2 years ago now and generally things have been pretty good but recently 2 months or so I've had episodes of skipped beats every few days. Never full blown AF just skipped beats that last a few hours then normally pass.

The odd thing is that I suddenly get a cough when the skipped beats start which never happened before.

Has anyone had a similar experience post ablation?

Answer - yes, lots of us. Ectopics or skipped beats are very very common after ablation and unless they become very frequent, are considered benign.

The cough could be any number of things, I had a a bad, dry cough for months after ablation but may I suggest that if it is only just prior to ectopics it could be an irritated vagus nerve. You can improve Vagal tone through various daily practices - try slow, diaphragmatic breathing which are very helpful to stopping ectopics but also for improving vagal tone.

Hello CDreamer, I just needed to hear that again after a nurse mention yesterday that skipped beats were due to AF. Like you, I know the difference now and suspect that what I was getting for a couple of minutes a few days ago was once again, Ectopics. The feelings during an episode are extremely odd, nothing like those associated with AF but equally unnerving. It was a case of Ambulance or walk around the block so, I went for a walk around the block and it stopped.

Thanks for the reply. What is considered frequent? I seem to be getting them every few days. They seem to last about 2-3 hours then fade away.

The cough usually only shows up during the Ectopics.

When you become so symptomatic that you cannot function and do normal, everyday activities and last most of every day - just my opinion. I think everyone's tolerance level is different. Fortunately, like you, I only ever had them for a few hours at a time & I learned to still them with breathing exercises.

If I had them all day and every day & nothing I did helped them I would seek medical advice
