Upper stomach pain and heart skipping beats

Good morning all.

I have just returned from holiday and found that prior to me having an "episode" as I call it which sees my heart skip beats every tenth beat or so I have a twisting feeling in my upper stomach area just below centre of my rib cage.

As soon as this disappears or is rectified by tablets my heartbeat resets to synus rhythm.

This could happen a few times a day! Is this normal for AF sufferers or as I am beginning to suspect my stomach affects my rhythm?

What you describe your heart to be doing is ectopic beats rather than AF. The two are quite different and ectopics are common to all people with or without AF. If you search ectopics on top right there is a great deal of information there.

You may also wish to look up Vagus nerve. This is the main neural super highway twixt brain and many other organs such as heart and stomach. Yes digestive problems can be contributory.

Thank you Bobd and sorry for delay in replying.

I am still having the missed beats and it's definitely when my stomach turns. I am going to go back to my GP to sort.

One question I am on a beta blocker and in your opinion is this actually assisting me or not. I'm not sure now
