I am taking amiodarone 200mg twice a day. I just started a few days ago for afib. Since starting the medication i have developed a swollen left thyroid gland that puts pressure on my throat and makes it hard to swallow. The medication controls my heart rate very well but just reading the side effects scares me. My rate was out of control so first i was on a small dose of carvedilol 6.25 twice a day but it gave me alot of pressure in the back of my head along with other bad side effects. So i weaned off of it so now its amiodarone and i feel horrible. Does anyone have advice on what i should do.

As I understand Amariodarone can affect the thyroid so you should definitely report this symptom to your GP or cardiologist as soon as possible.
I was only on it fo 2 1/2 days for a total combined dose of 1000mg. When the first dose was givin to me i got an itchy sensation on my upper body and head, doc said use benadryl take zantac for your stomach and you should be fine, so i did. By the last dose i took , my thyroid gland started swelling and i was having trouble swallowing. So i stopped it. Now i am worried, after 5 doses, am i going to really suffer for this for a long time and when will side effects wear off
