I have had my blood thinning medication changed to Dabigatran, and I am awaiting a catheter ablation.

Has anyone suffered side effects and can I drink alcohol while taking it?

I have been taking Pradaxa for nearly 3 years. It needs an acid stomach so antacids are not a good idea. I have had no side effects at all and can eat as normal. Alcohol is not recommended for AF sufferers as it is a known trigger. I cannot speak from experience as I do not drink any - I have never liked it.

I've been taking Dabigatran (Pradaxa) for about 10 months. I've had no side effects in normal use or, during workouts in the gym and, a glass of wine or G&T doesn't cause a problem either.

I have been changed from Xarelto to Pradaxa. I find I get heartburn, indigestion and bloating along with diahorea with this and am thinking of asking to go off it. Does anyone else get these side effects.? I realise everyone reacts differently to each drug we are on.
