Saying hello.

I was diagnosed with AF end of last year, after having to go to A&E (ambulance)with high pulse rate 150 ppm and low blood pressure. I had had several episodes in the year whilst tending my late wife with cancer but none as bad as the last.

I take Apixaban 5MG twice a day , Sotalol 80MG twice a day and Ramipril 10 MG to lower BP.

Have had a few mild episodes since, but generally only lasting a few hours and pulse stays in range but blood pressure drops.

Pleased to join you all

John

Please feel free to ask any questions and know that there's no such thing as a daft one.

As you've probably guessed from reading some of the posts, we are a friendly bunch and are fortunate to have some really knowledgeable Volunteers to help with the more intricate details.

Hello John and welcome. I hope you find this forum to be the lifeline which it was for me after diagnosis of AF .

It's good to know that others have the same difficulties and can help or simply understand what we are talking about and going through.

This sounds like me When you have an episode do you feel nauseous and light headed. I find a drink of Gatorade helps. I think we get a bit dehydrated and that a no no foe Afib as the blood can't move around as quick as it needs to. Hope this helps.

Hi Ksusie, thanks for reply. I certainly know when I have an episode, feel unsteady on my feet, breathless and tired. But nowhere near as bad as before medication.
