9 weeks post ablation dissapointment

I'm feeling so disappointed. I had a cryoablation on 27 April and up until a few days ago, other than a few eptopics, everything had been going so well. The only medication I am on on is anticoagulant. Out of the blue, nine weeks to the day, soon after waking, I had a continuous run of ectopics for two hours missing every fifth beat. An hour or so after it had calmed down it started beating very irregularly ranging from about 48bpm to 80bpm (my usual resting rate is about 65bpm) this carried on for almost 3 hours when I resorted to taking a bisoprolol which I keep as a PIP and which after about 30 mins calmed it down. Today, two days later, as soon as I woke up I noticed ectopics recording pulse at 49 bpm and within an hour became very erratic jumping, missing, up and down, recorded pulse as low as 49 and as high as 112bpm and just climbing my stairs it raced as high as high as 116bpm possibly higher. I have finally given is as it now 3pm and I can't put up with it any longer, just sitting here typing it goes from fairly normal feeling to racing it's all over the place, have now taken a Pip,hope it settles it like last time.

Does any one know, should I count this as an AF episode and does this mean there is a chance that the ablation hasn't worked?

It's still early days! It normally takes 3 but can take up to 6 months to see the final results of your ablation. I'm only on day 4 of my 3rd ablation and although I'm still having some episodes of afib I'm confident it will settle down. Don't get discouraged I know it's hard. Thinking of you

Thank you for replying. It really helps to know if others have had the same experience. It seems to be settling now although about 45mins after taking pip my heart rate dropped to 41bpm which didn't feel so good but now seems to have settled at about 69.

Hang in there! We're here for you. Each day is going to be a little different until things settle into a regular pattern. Give it the full 3 months to get there and stay positive. ❤️

I hope this has now resolved. Don't be too down about these wobbles because only time will tell. They may peter out, so don't read too much into them.

As others have said it is still early days. I was still getting some arrhythmia at nine months but nine years later just mainly ectopics if I do the wrong things.

I know how difficult it can be and yes it is weekend now but why not talk to your GP and arrange for you to pop in from time to time for an ECG when this sort of thing happens and then you will know what is occurring.

Stay well hydrated and rested and I'm sure you will be fine.

Hi Bob, could you explain what you mean by 'doing the wrong things' to bring on your ectopics?? I worked out that my post ablation wobbles were indeed ectopics, but I haven't found out yet what triggers them.

Thanks everyone your comments are really helpful. Social life has been a bit full on this week, lots of birthday lunches, things should settle down now 🤞.

And usually when there is a wobble.....lifestyle is the culprit, be it the wrong foods, too much stress, or not enough sleep. Heal well! :-)

As all have said, early days, and although not easy, try to relax because any extra stress will make matters worse. I had a couple of AF episodes a week or so after my cryoablation and another one 6 months later. No more since and it's now over a year. Whilst I get ectopics and occassional short runs of rapid heart beats, I feel great and hopefully you will too.....beat wishes

It's is still early days, I had a cryoblation also. I did find that my heart raced then slowed most of the time, a bit like a car accelerator with a foot going on and off...it did settle and now although I get the same sensation it is not as often or for as long. Have you had your 3 month check yet ?

Don't get disheartened, I had my ablation last September and was absolutely fine for 6 months then a full on attack of AF which lasted about 12 hours, then nothing for several weeks and then another episode but not so long. Since then, touch wood, all is well. Don't panic or get stressed because as others say, this will only make things worse. Relax and think positive, I'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck.

Thank you all so much you've all been a great help. Everything fine and settled today just got to try and not do too much (which I find very hard) 😕

DO NOT WORRY - THIS IS NORMAL. The ectopics are not AF, just your heart recovering from the severe bashing it has just received. Rest, rest and more rest, plus light daily exercise, and in six months you'll feel a new person.

It took 5 months for mine to settle down and I am af free for over 3 years. Good luck 🍀
