Thank You

I have been a member of this forum for exactly 3 years now and read your posts everyday, but have never written anything myself so thought it was about time I said hello.

I have had AFib for around the same time and in the first year really struggled to get it under control. I was so scared in the beginning particularly during the night, when every heartbeat seems magnified. Lots of visits to the hospital and heart consultant. However, with Bisoprolol and Flecainide everything calmed down nicely.

After a couple of bad flare ups was prescribed Rivaroxaban. Nearly went down the ablation route but decided to keep trying to control it myself. Anyway to cut a long story short, over a year ago I wanted to come of Flecainide as I didn't like its effect on me and asked to take it as a PIP which my heart consultant strongly advised against but agreed I could try. So I haven't had an episode of AFib for over 18 months, which is great - although I do know it is in the background somewhere. Still take Bisporolol (2.5) and Rivaroxaban.

I take Magnesium, I do yoga 3 times a week (which I think is very instrumental in helping AF) I only have an occasional glass of wine now and try to watch what I eat, I walk, I love my garden and generally enjoy life , my family and my friends. And if A Fib starts up again I know I am so much better able to cope with the symptoms and treatment thanks to all of the above but also thanks to the great advice and help I have gained from being a member of this forum. So I just wanted to say Thank You.

That's really good to hear. Its a lovely post.

If you don't mind doing me asking what was it about Flecainide you didn't like? I get side effects too (feeling sick, sore stomach, and a bit faint if I take it regularly). But it does seem to work as a pill in the pocket after a day in so. I would love to hear your experience with it.

I must start looking into taking up yoga. So many people say it helps.

Thank you for your post.
