AF after 6 Months

Hi I came to a and E today in AF. No symptoms apart from pulse. EP had said before pill in pocket, 2 5 mg of bisoprosol and 3 x100 mg flecaninde but the doccs in a and E have halved the flecaninde and potential ly happy to send me home even if not in sinus. Any concerns?.

Unless you have chest pain or are passing out it sounds about right to me. A F is a chronic condition not an emergency condition.

Thanks bobd so I should be happy go home and enjoy Christmas with the kids as I have a 3 year old and a 2 year old. So I should keep an eye to see if I go back in sinus? If not what do u suggest

The best thing what you can do enjoy your kids :). Of cours if AF is not terminated you should inform your cardiologist.

I take a different view to Bob. It depends on how symptomatic you are.

For me this would NOT be a satisfactory outcome.

Once they told me to go home I said no then after awhile said yes then they made me walk round the ward and told me I could not go home hr to fast and irregular I must have a cv that is what I had told them in the first place so had cv then went home

They were quite happy to send me home still in AF, but thanks God I reverted to Sinus.

Sinus = normality. Normal sinus rhythm is often abbreviated to NSR.

If it were me I would ask if any of the A&E docs are an EP or at least a cardiologist. If not an EP and it was me in A&E then I would follow EP's advice as he is the arrhythmia specialist not an A&E doctor.

As for going home that depends on your true HR, your BP and what your ECG showed. Quite a few of us are in persistent AF.

I am NOT medically qualified so just personal thoughts (and at times like this just someone saying something can be a big help).

ECG shows AF. Have now taken 2.5 mg of bisoprosol and 100 mg tablet form flecaninde and another 50 mg intravenous ly. Wait and see I guess

Always do what feels right to you Andy. This rogue condition affects us differently so be comfortable with your choices. If you don't feel well then a and e may be the best choice. I would hope that a and e medics would not send you home if they thought there was a problem after undertaking tests.

If you are confident in your ep then follow his instructions he is your expert. hope you return to nsr very soon so you can enjoy your children at this special time of year.

It's difficult I know only too well as its an unnerving condition. Best wishes.

If you have no symptoms apart from the uneven pulse then taking the PIP and then relaxing and enjoying your children is probably the best approach. Adrenaline can set AF off and makes it worse, so relaxing and getting absorbed in something else should decrease the adrenaline going round the body, and so NSR should return all the quicker.

Af is chronic and Af can kill

I have paf and was left undiagnosed...result...hf and a 3 week stay in intemsive care, if you have chest pains and short of breath contact A + E

But make sure you get a gp appointment to check you out

Thanks bushy2016, got an ECG, had bloods etc, took bisoprosol and flecaninde and went home.

Due to see my EP end of month.
