When normal medications don't help AF...?

I have had persistent AF since May 2013. In the last few months, the Flecainide which had controlled my runaway heartbeat has started to cause AF rather than help it. Beta-blockers like bisoprolol knock me out, so I can't work. Thus I am left with no medication whilst awaiting a catheter ablation...and I experience AF every day, for hours at a time. Any suggestions anyone?

I'm on bisoprolol, and it works fine for me, and others on the forum said it took them some time to get used to it, also tired/sluggish in the beginning, maybe a lighter dose?

I do feel that the ablation will work, but the waiting....

Speak to your DR about magnesium supplements.

There are 5 ways to test magnesium levels.

Serum

RBC

Ionic

Exa Test

Loading/Tolerance Test.

Although the Serum test is mostly used, it is the least accurate.

Because useing magnesium is one of the "safer" vitamins/minerals to use, your Dr may not even test you and encourage you to try it.

Remember not all supplements are made/created equal.

Oh poor you, that sounds terrible but I am sorry I have no advice to offer just my sympathy. Hope they offer you an ablation very soon so you can reclaim your life.

If you are no medication then why not check out hawthorn. Research it first, but from what I have read it appears to do many of thing the pharma drugs do wit regard the heart. It obviously hasn't been through all the clinical trials and so while some people swear by it, there is no guarantee it will help.

Oh I do feel for you, it's just horrid when AF is everyday. I was on Sotalol for two years for AF and had a PVI last August. This really upset the Sotalol, so my cardio man put me on what ke called " an old fashioned drug " called Adizem I take 120 mg twice a day. Maybe worth asking about? Good luck👍
