You may know, or guess by my username, that I live in Japan.

In the last 48 hours we have had over 300 earthquakes, with over 50 measuring more than 3 on the Richter scale.

Fortunately I'm not at the centre and my property isn't damaged by many, many families are not so lucky.

Do a Google search for images from the Kumamoto earthquake, you'll see. Meanwhile have a look at this, see what I mean?

Horrific, Japaholic - and they are usually the cause of tsunamis in their wake.  I cannot imagine what it is like to live in an earthquake zone and live day to day with the knowledge and then cope in the aftermath, whether affected physically or not.

I'm glad your family and property are safe - keep your friends close and keep well.

Good to hear from you.  We hope stability swiftly returns, although it will be the start of a new era for so many people.

So sorry about this awful news, I'm very glad you're safe but my best wishes also go out to the poor people who have been badly affected by this. Take care.

My son and his family live in Saitama City north of Tokyo and I always worry when I hear there are earthquakes but I think they are out of your area.  Best of luck to you!

Yes, they are way off. Still in Japan no one is totally safe.

Today we've had a load more, five quakes over 5 on the scale in the last hour. It is really quite worrying.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I live in California and we fear that those horrific quakes are heading our way. Stay safe.
